After looking at the Benefit stand in Boots for about 2 seconds, I was approached by a Benefit lady who practically cooed with delight when I mentioned what I was looking for! Her eyes lit up and in a flash she was back, carrying a tiny tube of Ooh la Lift. The great thing about Benefit is that they're very big on you trying things out before you buy so you really know if something's going to work or not.
Ooh la Lift is a lotion ... ...my fair share of duff Benefit products before) I was rather dubious as to how well this would work.
Appearance wise, this is pretty impressive- the overall effect is quite expensive looking and chic. It comes in a cute tube with a silver top (very classy looking!) and you can see the lotion, which is the palest pink, through the tube. It has a wand style applicator, making it very easy to use.
Recently, my hectic student lifestyle has been playing havoc with my natural good looks (!) Endless parties, drinking and late nights have resulted in me acquiring a rather nice set of, what looks like, black eyes. Well, okay, if I’m honest, recently, it’s been less of the partying and more of the staying up all night to meet those essay deadlines- my social life has been a bit lifeless lately! Dark circles are one of those things that you don't really notice how bad they make you look until you get rid of them- they seem to add at least 5 years to my face and give me a kind of 'walking dead' look! I have a really good concealer, but the circles were starting to get so bad that I wanted something that was going to properly tackle the problem, not just cover it up.
Ooh la Lift is a lotion designed to de-puff and firm up the eye area and it contains extracts of raspberry and chamomile to firm and soothe, and light-reflecting pigments to cover up any dark circles. But of course, being my cynical self (and having tried my fair share of duff Benefit products before) I was rather dubious as to how well this would work.
Appearance wise, this is pretty impressive- the overall effect is quite expensive looking and chic. It comes in a cute tube with a silver top (very classy looking!) and you can see the lotion, which is the palest pink, through the tube. It has a wand style applicator, making it very easy to use.
The best way to use this is to just gently dab a few dots of the lotion under the eye area and then dab in really lightly with a finger (be careful not to rub it in or it’ll just rub off on your finger and all the light-reflecting particles will be gone!). The cream is a really nice light consistency and really easily absorbed into the skin so there’s no need for heavy rubbing (which is bad for the eyes). I was rather disappointed by the fact that Ooh La Lift had no smell, but for some people that’s going to be a huge bonus. As soon as you apply this, you get a really cool, soothing sensation- very de-stressing! What makes this even better though, is if you keep it in the fridge so it’s really cold! (just make sure no-one in your family decides to eat it!) I usually apply this in the morning before I put on my make-up, although it can be applied over make-up as well if you feel you need to re-touch during the day.
So, it looks good and it feels good, but does it actually make a difference to my dark circles? Well, in a word- yes! The light-reflecting pigments really do immediately brighten the skin and seem to distract attention away from the dark patches and I definitely feel that my eyes are firmer. It also seems to tighten up the skin, reducing any unsightly bags that have formed under your eyes. This works so well that if I use this, I don’t even need to bother with concealer! With long-term use, (in my case about 2 weeks) the dark circles themselves also seem to be disappearing (although, whether that’s down to this or just that I’m getting more sleep I wouldn’t like to say!) I'd imagine that this would be a great product to prevent wrinkles and such around the eyes and is certainly one that I'll be using for a few years yet!
The only down side to Ooh La Lift, as with most Benefit products, is the price. At £14.50 for a tube containing 7.0g, this isn’t exactly cheap. But because you only need the tiniest bit, I can see this lasting me months! Maybe it's me, but Benefit products seem to last me ages- I've not had to replace one yet and I've been buying the for 2 years! And to get rid of those circles, I feel it’s totally worth it!
Advantages: No more bags, no more dark circles... Disadvantages: Potential for financial collapse...
...cigarettes, drugs, gambling and well, Benefit cosmetics.
Now obviously the Benefit range is not dangerous in comparison to say a lion in need of a bite to eat (or just a bite), or finding oneself suspended on a trapeze without the necessary training or safety ropes: it’s certainly not as dangerous as finding oneself in the nightmare of Reality Television, but dangerous it most certainly is.
It’s dangerous to the purse…or more ... ...evil ways of the sad Benefit junky that I must openly admit I am.
Let’s say it together: “Ooh la lift”…
Does that sound innocuous to you? Sound even rather silly? Easy to walk straight past without a second look? Oh my poor dear naïve friends, if only you knew…
Ooh la lift, silly name or not, is simply a dream. It is a 7gram bottle of pink magic. It claims to “de-puff” and “firm” the delicate ...

...found ourselves drawn to the benefit cosmetics counter. It was one of the days when you feel like buying beauty products, and oh my, alot of my student loan was spent on the afternoon. One of the products which found its way guiltily into my basket and then later my dressing table at home was the Oh La Lift Benefit product for the under eyes. It claims to lighten and de puff and firm up the delicate under eye area. It contains camomile and rose hip ... ...wise choice i think for benefit because you dont want chemicals and smells near your delicate eyes. This product can be applied as often as required. To apply, lightly dab a few dots of the product with the applicator wand to the under eye area. Then using your ring finger gently pat into the area. The warmth of your finger tip will help the creme to be absorbed. Do not rub this product in otherwise you may damage the delicate skin and the effect ...

Advantages: makes you look human Disadvantages: seriously addictive range
...had been drawn towards the BeneFit counter. Now. I'll set the scene a little, I was by no means blameless. My feet have been minging this week, and Claire has this lovely Benefit cream (Sandal Scandal) that I finally felt guilty about stealing and thought I would invest in some of my own. Call it a birthday present to myself (one of many...). It's £27.50 a tub. A little tub. So I was standing there feeling vulnerable and weighing up the pros and ... ...on a wand. The usual Benefit type packaging, completely unique. You can dab it under your eyes above or below makeup 'as and when required'. The magic ingredients are raspberry extracts which firm and de-puff, and light reflective pigments which disguise the dark circles.
And really, it works, immediately. Which is pretty much the only reason to part with £14.50 for a tiny tube of the stuff. God knows it won't last long. But you don't really need ...

Advantages: Lightens undereye area Disadvantages: Doesn't cure bags, or de-puff undereye, may not be ok for dark skin
...I had never used Benefit products before so I didn't know what to expect but as I said I had read some good reviews about the brand as a whole. I looked on the Benefit website and the products had nice descriptions and cool looking packaging. They were shown on the Boots website so I went into Boots in Lancaster but this stupid town doesn't sell anything so I couldn't find any Benefit products. I bought it online for around £15 which was quite expensive, ... ...skin colour, it probably wont benefit people with darker skin. In fact from browsing the benefit website it didn't seem that the majority of their products would be suitable for people with dark skin. But I have fair skin so I obviouslty didn't look for those products and I may be wrong. ...

Advantages: works on me, looks good :), benefit. Disadvantages: expensive like most benefit products
Yet another benefit product review from me, so sorry if you're getting bored of them. Ooh La Lift was also part of the 'Realness of Concealness' Kit, but is also available in a tube by itself. *What it does*
Ooh La lift is meant to lift the bags under your eyes when you apply a small amount to the under eye area and rub it in softly. I have tried quite a few creams that claim to do this, but until trying this one I'd always been disappointed. I ... ...on it swirly writing, and Benefit written round the top of the tube. Like most benefit products it does look good, and shallow though it seems, is one of the reasons why I like cosmetics from the Benefit range.
*Cost*
At £14.50 for a tube of this, it does seem a bit pricey. However it does work better than things like this from other makes, so it is worth spending a but more for something of this high quality. As I said earlier, it is also available ...
