Advantages Great look

Disadvantages None

I love Benefit cosmetics and use a number of their products but do find them very expensive. Usually I first try the item when it is given away as a free sample in a magazine and that's how I was able to try the "that gal" brightening face primer make up. It was given away by Glamour magazine in May and I had read good things about it before so I was excited to try it.

So what exactly does a primer do and is it essential to have one as part of your make up routine? Well, according to an article I read, a primer keeps oil at bay and fills in fine lines and provides a smooth canvas for your foundation to stick to. Apparently primers come in different colours to combat different facial skin concerns. For example a green hued primer will combat redness and acne. This primer is pink which helps brighten complexions.

Benefit say you will go from dull to darling by using this primer. You can either use it on its own or under your make up for the look of bright smooth skin. I have tried it both ways and like the effect it has.

The primer is quite a pink colour and you think it's going to make your skin go really pink when you rub it in but it doesn't, it's quite strange actually, it just blends into your skin. The lotion is quite thin and blends in very easily and smoothly. I really liked the way it made my clean skin look. It doesn't cover up blemishes but it sort of smoothes out the look of your skin and gave mine a really nice healthy glow. It almost had a bit of a sheen to it too which was really nice. Under my make up it really seemed to give it a bit of an extra boost and one night when I went out I found my make up looked great, right to the end of the night. Benefit say you can also use this primer during the day by gently patting on to re-brighten your complexion.

The trial size that came with Glamour magazine is only 7.5ml so it will not last very long. I think I will purchase a full size tube from Benefit when this does run out as I like the way it makes my skin feel. A full size one from Benefit costs £21.50.
