i was insured by bennetts for a total of 4 months on a policy costing 157 for the year. i paid a 47 quid deposit then paid 13.49 for the next four months, i then sold the bike and got a bigger bike. i tried to switch the policy over but they wouldnt insure me thus forcing me to cancel. this is were they get you. first they charge you a £30 cancellation fee which is acceptable as all insurance companies do it. but they they informed me i would have to pay any monies owed to them. however i have paid over 90 quid already just for the 4 months so how can i possibly owe them money. then on top of this i would have to pay 40% of the original premium cost. so basically i will nearly be paying as much as the original policy cost, just to cancel, let alone losing over 90 quid just for the 4 months cover. a policy which by the way they sent me an incorrect insurance certificate. then when i had to actually tell them i had to cancel, they wouldnt tell me how much it would eventually cost, they simply debited the amount out of my account. i cannot refer you all to look elsewhere for bike insurance. bennetts are an absoloute disgrace. if you do go with bennetts, then do not cancel the policy as the percentage they charge off your original premium increases with the length of time you hold the policy going all the way up to 100% if you cancel the policy after 9 months!!! absoloute disgrace
