The Continental GT has drawn upon the unmistakable DNA design of Bentley. It is of a 'predatory', muscular design filled with some of the most advanced technology to be found in a car today.
Craving to be unleashed is a 6 litre twin turbocharged, 12 cylinder engine in W formation. (Developed and tuned by Bentley).
The Continental GT is a 2 door, 4 seat, Grand Touring Coupe.
Performance: Acceleration ~ 0 - 60mph in 4.7 secs
Max Speed ~ over 190Mph (300km/h)
Suspension ~ Continuous, electronic variable damping control and self-levelling, air suspension with manual driver adjustment facility for ride height and damper settigs.
***Well, that's all the 'macho' stuff out of the way, lol, so how would this appeal to the ladies too?? THE LOOK, of course!***
****EXTERIOR****
The sleek design of the Continental GT, from first glance to my untrained eye, reminded me of a pouncing cat - long and stretched. Very eyecatching and will appeal to both the masculine and feminine ends of the market.
The traditional Bentley matrix grille is integrated into the bonnet and the famed black 'winged B' badge to the radiator shell, boot lid and wheel centres.
The headlamps are twin bi-xenon with integrated washer jets, and the automatic rear aerofoil is integrated into the lower rear screen and deployed for increased stability at higher speeds. ***(Sorry, no parachutes provided)!!***
Wheels ~ These are 19" five-spoke sports alloys
Mirrors ~ Colour keyed electronically adjustable door mirrors with heating, (For those cold mornings...Brrrrrr!), power folding (For those narrow spaces) and memory function - electrochromatic linked to the internal rear view mirror.
Keys ~ Keyless entry (USA only) and keyless ignition
Twin oval stainless steel tail pipes and a choice of 6 exterior paint colours. (Cypress - a kind of green/gold, Diamond Black, Moonbeam (silver), Neptune (a gorgeous blue/purple), Spruce (Kind of 'Olive' green) and Umbrian Red (a very warm, deep red)). All the paints are metallic.
****INTERIOR****
The interior is of a full grade premium hide. The hide trimmed heated steering wheel is multi-functional (but doesn't make tea, as yet).
Gearshift paddles are steering column mounted and the gearstick itself is hide/chrome trimmed.
The fascia and front and rear consoles are of 'Burr Walnut'.
**** NOW COMES THE TECHIE BIT****
Infotainment system incorporates SATELLITE NAVIGATION and a premium 12-channel HI-FI System. 6x CD changer in the Glove Compartment and a Nokia 'docking' station for in-car phone system. Electronic climate control, electronic park brake with move off assist. Stainless steel surfaced foot pedals and drivers foot rest.
There is also a T.V. in the front dash (not available in the USA). Be warned though, for obvious reasons, the T.V automatically switches off once the car goes over a speed of 5mph.
When I first sat in the Continental GT, At only 5' 3", I was disappointed to find that I couldn't comfortably see over the dashboard. I had no need to worry though as, once I mentioned it to one of the Bentley Representitives, with the mere push of a button at the side of the seat, I found myself gently rising upwards. Oh yes, I was much happier being able to see where I was actually going - it does help, I suppose! There are actually 14 fully adjustable positions for the front seats (with memory) and, OH JOY ON EARTH ~ LUMBAR MASSAGE CONTROL!! Yes, you can be cruising along with your own personal masseuse gently caressing your back!!
There are a choice of premium veneers - Oak, Madrona (Reddy/brown), Birds Eye Maple (A warm yellow), Dark stained Walnut and Piano black.
****AND FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE****
A garage door opener and a Park heater (engine block and interior HVAC) with remote/telestart function.
There is a large boot capacity ~ 370L (enough for 4 sets of Golf clubs I have been reliably informed)!!
\*\*\*\ I CANNOT COMMENT ON THE WAY THE CONTINENTAL GT DRIVES, AS a) I CAN'T DRIVE b) THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN 'LAUNCHED' AS YET (Launch date due December 2003), I CAN ONLY PASS ON INFORMATION GLEENED FROM BENTLEY HEAD OFFICE AT CREWE. Once the car has been launched, I will obviously update this op. /*/*/*/
Having said that, this really is a dream of a car, but I don't like the fact that it does only about 10mpg. You will need to have the money to run this car, if it is going to be used on a daily basis.
The price tag for all of this luxury?? As yet it is to be confirmed (as the car has not been launched as yet) ~ approximately £110,000.
For more information on The Continental GT, you can visit the website at http://www.bentleymotors.com
I loved the look and feel of this car, and if you have the money, you can enjoy it too. (I shall keep doing the lottery)!!
Please feel free to comment/rate on my opinion, and if you need to know more, just leave a message in my Guest Book or visit the above website.
Thanks.....Ayeshah xx
Oh, the reason I have rated the reliability only as 'good', is because, as yet the Continental GT has not been launched.
The Bentley Continental GT does look good and sits quite low. It really seems to turn heads, which is not always a good thing and can be unnerving sometimes.
The interior finishing is something to behold and you can surprisingly just about fit 4 adults with a little compromise - as for luggage the boot is quite enromous.
I have a Mulliner with most of the optional extras which makes the car slightly more impressive (and expensive) but I still think ... ...slow speeds (nothing like a Bentley should be) and is a big dissappointment.
Unbeliebvably the Sat Nav doesn't accept postcodes, the Bluetooth will only work with a small number of phones, the CD autochanger will not give you any disc information and an iPod connection will not give you access to playlists etc. (I have an 06 car). The biggest drawback which I (stupidly) never considered is that, even though it is not too big to park - you really ...

I thought that it was quite a good title, but then again perhaps not.
Well what do you say about a car that costs GBP 120,000. It's got everything on it except for a sunroof, but then again when there's fully automatic climate control who cares.
The car has a full hand crafted leather and wood interior. Any colour of leather you want and any type of wood you want as long as it's from a sustainable source.
The steering wheel is hand crafted and ... ...seat leather is sewn by women only.
It's double glazed apart from the front screen, and thats because of legislation.
It runs 19" wheels that are soooo sexy, and the chrome ones are even sexier.
Some technology that you won't find on a run of the mill car is the air suspension. This raises or lowers all according to how hard or soft the car is being driven. It's got so many stability programmes I think anyone would find it hard to lose control ...

Advantages: Perfectly engineered and tailored Disadvantages: Bit of a gas monster. 10 mpg in the city. And 17 mpg in the country
...reviewed here is the 2008 Bentley Continental GTC. Where do I start with this vehicle I ask myself ? This car in my opinion certainly lives up to all the heritage and royalty Bentley has been known for. Normally when you open up the hood of a vehicle you pop it from the inside, come in and "fish-in" from the grille to find the latch to unleash the hood to get into the engine compartment.....The Bentley is slightly different once you've pulled the ... ...on the hood, - pull on it upwards and the hood opens..( just like magic NOT ! )...Once I got under the hood I found a 6 litre W12 twin-turbo engine. It put's out 552 hp and 479 lbs-ft ( or 649 Nm) of torque. Its supercar status is underlined by its top speed of 195 mph with 0 to 60 times of just 4.8 seconds. The Continental GTC is built to conquer in true grand touring tradition with endless power in reserve. Why buy this car ?...its perfectly engineered ...

Advantages: Its a real head turner Disadvantages: It drinks more than something that drinks alot
The bentley Continental GT, where do I even start?!
Well firstly the facts and figures, its fast, and I mean fast, no manual gearbox available, the automatic gearbox will push you from 0 to 62 in just over 3 seconds, for just ~£110k. Onto a reported top speed of 198mph, however I have heard reports of 200 being hit.
The Bentley Continental GT is the worlds fastest, 4 seater car, but the one thing I dont like about it, obviously its a three door, ... ...does she handle? Well the Bentley Continental GT handles like a sports car, grips the road fairly well, and doesn't end up in any gardens as you come off a roundabout at just under 100mph (for legal reasons, I didnt do that, it was purely hypothetical, well, sort of)
How can I sum up the Bentley? Practical as a sports car, fits four, fast, not particuarly economical, but you have the clearance to go over speed bumps in North London, what more could ...

Advantages: Very discreet, anonymous plutocrat, that engine, the interior ambience. Disadvantages: VW badge? Size and weight. Slightly excessive?
.
There are not many 12 cylinder cars on the market, the largest capacity engine I had driven prior to this was a 3.6 litre, straight six, that coming equipped with my preferred manual gearbox. However unless you can run to a Ferrari or Lamborghini, you are not going to drive any 12 cylinder engine mated to a manual 'box. Even the BentleyContinentalGT, equipped with this same 6.0 litre, VW sourced "W12" engine has no option of a manual gear selector. This very complicated engine is actually extraordinarily compact, that is the secret of the "W" cylinder configuration, look under the bonnet and again you are reminded why this car carries such a high price tag, you are looking at modern art.
Fuse W12 modern art with that wonderful interior and what have you got? The ultimate in luxury motoring.
Turn the key in the ignition and you will ...
Advantages: Very fast, flexible and refined Disadvantages: Compromised ride and handling. Grey interior
a strange 'second best' exercise in a way. You see, topping my wife's 'big lottery win' list, along with an Aston DB9 would, for some inexplicable reason be, a Porsche Cayenne. Now, however much Porsche might not like you to think so, the Cayenne is really only a badge engineered Touareg. Topping my lottery list would be the BentleyContinentalGT, I am not going to attempt to stretch the point and say that the British built car is a badge engineered Phaeton, but most of the primary components; engine, gearbox and many chassis parts are shared. For those of you not aware, Bentley has now been owned by Volkswagen for several years, there has even been talk of assembling the new BentleyContinental saloon in the superb new Dresden manufacturing plant which was purpose built for the Phaeton.
To my, albeit conservative eyes, the VW Touareg is ...
