First impressions

I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of buying from doorstep companies such as Betterware, but it wouldn't surprise many people if I were to say I bought the Betterware Car Shaped Dash Shine Sponge online. It may surprise you however, that I bought this product from the Amazon website, though Betterware do have an online presence also. I paid £2.49 on www.Amazon.co.uk for this product, with free UK delivery.

The Betterware 'Dash Shine' Sponge is 14cm across, with a 7cm width and 3cm in depth. This makes the specially designed sponge a doddle to use, as the shape fits easily in my hand. The shape is a car, so it also looks quite a fun product when it is stored in the glovebox, which is where I keep mine for safe keeping. You may also notice the two tone sponge, with a white band of colour through the middle. The grey coloured side of the sponge is quite a soft surface, ideal for getting into the nooks and crannies you will find on most dashboards. The red coloured sponge is a little bit firmer, and better for detail and also to grip the sponge easily. I find that I use the grey side of the sponge more than the red side, though I find it a lot easier to hold the product with the firmer side, so this could be the reason for this.

The advantages

There are a number of products out there designed to clean the interior of your car. Some are designed for upholtery, for example. There are also some designed to clean the dashboard, though a lot of such products are sprays and can mean you need to air the car out well before driving your car to the shops. This is one immediate advantage to the Betterware 'Dash Shine' Sponge. Although the sponge is impregnated with a formula which makes cleaning your dashboard simple, it doesn't leave a very strong chemical smell, and it certainly doesn't mean you struggle to drive the car without feeling the effects of the chemical solution.

There are other reasons for using this product over other alternatives. The results achieved are also a major benefit to choosing to use the Betterware 'Dash Shine'. The results are unique, and I can't say I have had anywhere near as good results from a spray dashboard cleaner. There is then the fact that using this product is much easier, as you don't need a canister of product and also a cloth or sponge.

Easy to use?

To use the product isn't something you will find you need instructions for. I use the sponge every few weeks, and the sponge does last a good while if you look after it. As the sponge is impregnated with a specially designed cleaner, it is worth preserving this by storing the sponge in a tupperware box or plastic bag. This further extends the lifespan of the product and makes it more effective than using a dry sponge after just a few weeks of use. As the sponge is slightly damp it is great for lifting dirt and dust from the hard plastic dashboard. There is some literature with the product, instructing you not to use it on the steering wheel, pedals or gearstick. This could be as a slippery surface may be left, though I wouldn't be confident of giving the exact reason behind these instructions, as I honestly do not know for sure.

Final thoughts

As I mentioned before, I bought the Betterware Car Shaped Dash Shine Sponge online through Amazon. I am quite sure that Betterware no longer stock this product, and the seller on Amazon appears to be a discount retailer, so this may well be the last of the old Betterware stock. I have to recommend the Betterware Car Shaped Dash Shine Sponge to anyone looking for a bargain when it comes to keeping their car interior in top condition. The price of £2.49 delivered is very competitive in my opinion, and a spray dashboard cleaner would be priced similarly from past experience. There are a number of advantages of using this product though, and I think on balance it is an extremely handy product to have in the car. My dashboard is now gleaming each and every day, and after use I don't find that the surfaces then become a dust magnet, unlike using a spray which leave a very damp and wet surface which can attract more dust than it clears!
