Review of Betterware Traditional Triple Oven Glove

I have tried many different types of oven gloves over the year, from pretty quilted ones to a short, yet totally disastrous relationship with a silicone gauntlet. I have returned to the traditional style oven glove and this one by Betterware is one of the best I've ever owned.

The Oven Glove

Made from thick heat resistant cotton fabric this oven glove is not a thing of beauty. It is a natural, creamy white colour and made in the traditional style, basically a band of material with a triple layered fabric pocket at each end for your hands. The oven glove is a good size, approximately 76 cms long x 19 cms wide.

The material is very soft to the touch and is heat resistant up to 220 degrees. I find this perfect for all my needs, it is a fuss free simple product that does what you need it to do. The padded mits at either end are a good size, my hands fit inside with room to spare and my wrists are also protected. , which is important to me, I have had many a burn caused by brushing against the hot oven selves in the past!

This oven glove is machine washable, so is very easy care. This style of oven glove is by no means unique, the Betterware version was purchased over three years ago by my late mother. Mum had a bit of a 'thing' for catalogues and loved leafing through them. As she was virtually housebound, it was a way of shopping that was convenient for her and she often bought things from Betterware.

I cook virtually all our meals from scratch and also do a lot of baking, so decent oven gloves are a must for me and as I put them through quite a hard time, they need to be up to the task. Betterware's traditional oven gloves are excellent quality and mine have been used constantly, they have been washed over and over again. After three years use, they are beginning to look a bit tatty, the padded end portions are looking a little worse for wear, but they are still perfectly functional. When the time comes to replace these, I think I will buy Betterware again.

My Thoughts and Conclusion

Personally I find some of Betterware's range rather expensive, but the quality of their products is generally very good. This oven glove is still available from either Betterware door to door catalogues or the company web site. The current price is £5.99, which considering the way these have lasted, I feel this is good value for money.

The oven gloves are hard wearing and being a bland colour and design would blend in with most kitchen colour schemes. These traditional style oven gloves are a definite winner for me and I would recommend them to others.
