Between Males is written by Fiona Walker. I have read all of her previous novels, and couldn't resist taking a look at this one. As I expected, I found it almost impossible to put down. I just constantly wanted to find out what happened next. The main character of this story is a woman named Odette. She had appeared in the novel Snap Happy aswell. Many characters first mentioned in Snap Happy and Kiss Chase were featured in this story. (e.g. Pheobe Fredericks and Felix Sylivan, Saskia Seaton and Stan, Fliss and Dylan, Mungo- all from Kiss Chase. Juno Glenn and Jay, Elsa and Euan Lydia and Finlay-all from Snap Happy.) Anyway, back to the plot. Odette has packed in her job and decided to invest a lot of money into opening a restaurant. She joins together with a man called Calum Forrester to set the business up, but Calum plans to wreck it. Meanwhile all her friends are getting married. She is beginning to feel lonely and her business venture seems to be going nowhere. Odette fancies Calum, but Calums friend Jimmy Sylivan fancies Odette. Calum seems to go through phases of paying attention to Odette and then doing a runner. But Jimmy is always there looking after her. Who will Odette choose? Will the business flunk? How much money will she lose? Read the book to find this out! I must admit that this book is not as gripping as other Fiona Walker novels I have read, but its still well worth a look. It's a modern romantic story really. Its got its funny side aswell, but a lot of it is about characters from previous novels getting married and about everyone finding love and settling down. It's a great book, but it was just a bit too long (about 600 pages compared to Fiona Walkers usual 500) and as the storyline was not as gripping as previous I think some parts could have been cut out. I would recommend this to anyone who's got a bit of spare time, and if you are experienced at skip reading it's well worth a go.
