I am a typical girly girl and have quite an extensive perfume collection. I have a large family and very often receive perfume for birthdays and Christmas from my family and partner so can end up with a few bottles at a time.
One bottle I received this Christmas was Beyonces ‘heat’ perfume. I have owned a few celebrity endorsed perfumes with mixed results but I am quite a fan of Beyonce and find her far classier than the likes of Jordan, Kerry Katona and Paris Hilton so I was confident that her perfume would be a decent one.
When I took the bottle out of the box, my first thought was a positive one. The bottle had quite a deep, dark, mysterious edge to it and had quite a classic look to it yet it had an individual air to it at the same time. The deep red colouring of the box and the tinge to the perfume gave this perfume a warm glow with the gold and glass lid finished off the bottle to perfection.
This was a good start in my opinion and gave me even higher hopes of the scent. I wasn’t disappointed either. The scent can only be described as a mixture of floral, fruity and woody notes with different aromas hitting you at different times. I am no perfume expert, I just know what I like and although I have some difficulty generally picking out particular notes in a perfume, with this one, certain notes were quite evident and stood out above others.
Bottom notes of the perfume include a floral bouquet of magnolia, neroli and red vanilla orchid with a kiss of luscious blush peach. Middle notes are almond macaroon, sweet honeysuckle nectar and crème de musk, with giant sequoia milkwood, tonka bean and amber linger to finish.
Some of these notes I have never even heard of but I definitely got a kick of magnolia which may be because it is one of my favourite smells and I also found it quite sweet which may have the notes at the heart of the perfume. All I know is that I really enjoyed this perfume. Not many perfumes are suitable for both day and evening wear but I would say this one is. It is quite strong, yet understated at the same time and I was impressed with how long it lasted. Many celebrity perfumes I have tried have lasted 2-3hours at the very most, but this one was still evident, though a little less so than when first applied, a good 4-5 hours later which I think is pretty good.
This is definitely a feminine fragrance and is very stylish and elegant. Price wise, I would say it is ‘middle of the range’ with a 50ml bottle costing around £29.00 from most stores so it isn’t cheap, but then it doesn’t have a cheap and cheerful look or smell to it so you don’t mind paying a bit extra. I would say this perfume is suitable for ladies of most ages, though is probably a little too chic for younger teenagers but mid twenties onwards is the perfect time to be wearing this perfume to get the most from it. It is definitely suitable for an elegant, stylish night out as it is powerful, yet subtle at the same time. I love the fact that this has a real individual flair to it which is something I can imagine someone like Beyonce wanting from a perfume as she isn’t one to blend in with the crowd and this perfume mirrors her personality completely – elegant, chic, confident and feminine which is all you could want in a perfume really. The
All in all, I have been really impressed with this perfume and still use it regularly now. I like to chop and change perfumes but this one really lifts the mood and gives you an air of confidence. You really feel it is noticeable throughout a good part of the day which I really like and I have worn it both to work and on nights out so it is quite versatile. It isn’t cheap, but then the perfume itself isn’t cheap so you pay for what you get with this perfume. As it is quite strong, a little goes a long way so a bottle isn’t bad value for money and is quite fresh and sweet which is perfect for summer months, but also has a dark, mysterious, woody side to it which is perfect for the cold winter months so this really is an ‘all year round’ perfume.
In my opinion this perfume is spot on and I am quite looking forward to trying any other perfumes Beyonce decides to endorse as if they are as good as this one, you can’t really go wrong. Highly recommended.
