Advantages: An unusually frank look behind the scenes at the usually secretive WWF; in-depth looks at how wrestling affects not just the performers, but their families. Disadvantages: The film was in production for a long time, so some footage is dated.
A documentary about wrestling? But how can you make a factual film about something that's fake? Look closer and you will see that behind the scenes, or, if you will "Beyond The Mat", there is far more to this "sport" than meets the eye.
Everyone knows that wrestling is not a "legitimate" sport, and Barry Blaustein never sets out to convince us that it is. Instead, this is a look into the inner machinations of a business that has for decades been shrouded in secrecy. Blaustein catches some phenomenal footage in his time backstage at WWF events, including the headache inducing scenario of one prospective wrestler being offered a contract purely because of his ability to vomit on demand, whilst two others put on an impressive match before a TV taping, and never hear from the Federation again. In the last 18 months my friends and I have made 4 attempts to play paintball in and around Manchester. We have twice been thwarted altogether, by double-booking and flooding, and on the two occasions when we got to play we were dissatisfied and vowed not to return. Imagine our relief then, when we finally found the fun day out we'd been looking for at Danger Zone in Sheffield.
WHERE IS IT?
Dangerzone is located on 100 acres of woodland at The Strines, off the A57 near Sheffield. If you want directions, the best way is to go to the dangerzone website (www.dangerzoneuk.co.uk/site.htm) and click on the map link.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE?
The facilities are... basic. There is no car park as such, but there is room for perhaps a 15 - 20 vehicles beside the rough track approaching the place. The 'building' you'll head into first ...
Advantages: No fillers, unique new sound, it's by Britney! Disadvantages: Ying Yang twins are bit odd and some of the lyrics are a bit much
I have to say, I am extremely surprised that it has taken me so long to review this in particular album, it being by my favourite ever artist. Yes, this particular CD, "In The Zone" is by the one, the only, Miss Britney Spears. Or Mrs Britney Federline? What is one to cal her these days? Anyway, regardless of name and title and despite the recent unjust accusations that Britney has "let herself go" (not at all, she is a full-time mother not a clothes horse!) Britney will always be a star in my eyes. She is undoubtedly the number one pop princess with star looks, great talent (as a singer, songwriter and dancer) and a refreshingly down-to-earth attitude and this fabulous album demonstrates exactly why she deserves her crown.
In Britney's third and most recent (and hopefully not last!) album she decided to take a different route ...
