Bid up tv and its sister channels, price-drop tv and speed auction, which are all part of 'sit-up channels'. They are shopping channels which are easy to view and easier to order from.
**WHERE IS IT?**
Bid-up tv is found on freeview channel 23, Virgin channel 745 and Sky channel 644.
**WHAT IS IT?**
It is a shopping channel which sells everything from Kitchen essentials, like pots and pans, plates, crockery, to electrical equipment, like television, DVD recorders and much, much more, at a very low price.
Each lot is sold in quantities, depending on what is in stock. It is aired for as long as it takes for the quantity to sell. Who ever buys will always pay the final lowest price when the product sells out.
** THE SHOW**
Firstly, there are different presenters working through out the day and into the small hours. They all do a good job in 'selling' the product they have at the time. The presenter will chat through out the product airing, sometimes waffling all sorts of stuff just to fill the time until the product has sold out.
**THE LOOK**
Usually on the left side of the screen there is a price above the quantity guide, you watch as the price drops until the quantity reaches zero and the little orange triangle snaps into its home inside the blue triangle, (sounds technical but it's easy really).
The item which is being offered is described by the presenter in great detail and a brief description runs along the bottom of the screen inside a blue border.
Every now and again the names of the people who have purchased the item on sale will appear along the bottom of the screen.
That's it… the look of the TV screen is simple and the products are sold in the same manner.
**EXTRA COST**
There is a standard delivery price of £7.99 (although some items may cost more), the delivery charge is shown on the screen below the telephone number, (which cost £1.50 to call and order).
**BUYING**
Buying from the channel is so easy, all you need is a telephone and a credit card. Once you have decided what to buy you then phone the number on the top left of the screen and, when connected, press 1 on your keypad.
*Simple as that…….***
The first time you order using the telephone you will get a call back from a friendly person working for Bid-up. They will take your details, such as name, address and credit/debut card details, then they will issue you with a PIN for you to use on further purchases, (this eliminate the need for call backs).
**OTHER WAYS OF BUYING**
You can also open up an on-line account at there website… www.bid.tv (or www.price-drop.tv or www.speedauction.tv ). This is a different way to buy and save you on the cost of the telephone call, but you can 'bid' for an item days before it appears on the tv.
**RETURNS**
They have a 10 day returns policy if you are not satisfied with the product bought but as I have never had to return anything I can not comment on this service.
**PERSONNAL EXPERIENCE**
I have purchased several item from Bid-up (and price drop) tv, ( ie… a digital camera, selections of DVDs, video games, kitchen equipment and even clothing). Once ordered, the goods have been delivered with-in a few days, which I must say is very impressive. The items ordered are of good quality considering the low price you end up paying. The security regarding your credit/debit card detail is of high quality so there is no fear in giving your details over the telephone.
**IN CONCLUSION**
Bid-up tv (as all the 'sit up' channels) are a cheap and easy way to buy most product from the comfort of your armchair. The products are of good quality and arrive at your door in a matter of days. The channels are well worth a look, even if you just want to see what's on offer. You never know, you might be tempted to buy.
Advantages: Cheap, different, fun, helpful, fast, reliable, novel, exciting, funny, useful and easy to get addicted! Disadvantages: I honestly can't think of any!!!
