We decided on the newly released (June 2008) Big Beach Sports. I think the decision was based upon the fact that we like sports games already and thought this would be a good extension of the games that we play. Plus, games like this lend themselves to involving a lot of people in the game rather than just a one player game. Also, the front of the box looked rather colourful and exciting so we thought it was well worth a try. I think also, we were waiting all July and August for summer to arrive and the fact that it didn't prompted us to game a beach game to try and recreate that summer holiday feeling.
Big Beach Sports for the Wii includes various games, set on the beach that you can play against each other. The games included are beach volleyball, beach cricket, beach soccer, beach American Football, beach disc golf and beach bocce ball. The set up of the game is like most other Wii games. The controller allows you to pick your players and then pick which game you want to play. There are various interesting characters in this game such as a funny looking monkey that makes this a very cute game for kids.
Once you have picked your game they give you a quick tutorial that you can scroll through which shows you which buttons to press for which moves etc. Some are a bit difficult and do take a while to master as there are some difficult moves but with this game being for ages 3 and up it can't be too hard, maybe I'm just too old!! Again, like all Wii games, the motion controls mimic real-life movements in the game making you feel like you are actually taking part in a game on the beach.
The beach disc golf is probably my favourite game. You throw the disc (or move your arm like you are throwing a Frisbee) and try to get it into holes along the beach. This is quite an easy game but gets more difficult as some holes bend around so you have to be quite skilled at throwing. I actually got a hole in one at my first attempt so this is probably why I like this game. I found the soccer to be quite hard. The pitch area was quite small and most of the time I did not really know what I was doing. The American football was tricky to start with but once you get the hang of it is was quite fun to try and get touchdown's in the sand. The cricket was quite confusing and I think I ended up with minus runs in the end so that wasn't too fun.
The music for this game is extremely annoying and repetitive. It's almost like a little jingle and by the end really got on my nerves! I suppose you can turn it off but then that would mean playing the game in silence which would not be fun either. The graphics are basic and just like any other Wii game, cartoon like and not real life but that doesn't take away from playing the games. I would say this game is very bright and colourful. The beach scenes are quite cool and feature a lot of palm tress, tree houses etc.
I would say if you're a hard core gamer then this game is not for you, but why would you have a Wii if you are a hard core gamer. The games to me are quite basic and move quite slowly and in a lot of them I was not even sure what I was doing and just seemed to be pushing buttons for the hell of it. This game was ok, not my favourite game on the Wii at all but I definitely think it will appeal to young kids. I couldn't see you getting unlimited fun out of it either, I would say after you've played it a few different times you would be done.
When I bought it, it was priced at around £34.99 as it was fairly brand new but now I think you can pick it up at Amazon for about £12. A good game but not one I would rush back to.
Advantages: A few good games and a few god laughs Disadvantages: Not as many laughs as i would like - not great graphics
Wii Big Beach Sports game….
The Wii Big Beach Sports was one of two games that were included in the package when we purchased the Wii console from Argos. Usually you would be looking at paying around £15 for the game new but I expect you can pick it up for a much cheaper amount second hand.
We chose the Beach Sports game as one of our included games because it seemed like you were getting more games for your money. The game itself has six different ... ...sports.
Overall, the Wii Big Beach Sports game is an okay one to have in your collection. I think if it is bought in a package like ours was then its not too bad but I don't think I would have gone out and bought it on its own. I do wish we had chosen more wisely and perhaps got a slightly better game with better graphics and longer game play. As although this one does have many different games to play in one I feel that the time spent playing is ...

...Conclusion
The team games in Big Beach Sports are good fun with family or friends and should offer many hours of playing, fighting, shouting and general humiliation for all.
Recommendation - If you can get this for £12.99 or less its well worth it, don't pay £20 for it. ...

Advantages: Extends the concept of Wii sports to a few new games. Cricket and Volleyball aren't bad. Disadvantages: Most of the games are either poorly executed or similar to the ones in Wii Sports.
...it get the same treatment? Big Beach Sports might just be worth a look for you. It's largely got the same strengths as its precursor too; the games are simple to pick up and controlled by gestures from the Wii-mote allowing you to act out your sporting prowess in the same sort of ridiculous fashion for any onlookers present. (Experienced players will, of course, have figured out that you can get by with small gestures rather than have to act everything ... ...initial computer opponents are also relatively easy meat but eventually ramp up to something you'll need a little bit more skill to dispatch. Obviously it's far more fun against human players, particularly if you can find someone at about the same level as you. That makes it a passable party game particularly with up to four players getting involved, assuming you've got enough Wii-motes to hand. The sports are a bit of a mishmash; Bocce and Disk ...

Advantages: Fun, cheap Disadvantages: Some games overly simple / monotonous
I had fancied getting Big Beach Sports for the Wii for a while after liking the look of the TV adverts which were showing a little ago and I was fortunate enough to be given it as a birthday present a few weeks ago.
The game is best thought of as an extension to Wii sports which comes with the standard Wii console, as it is made up of 4 sports games with relatively simple graphics and sounds.
As the name suggests the games are those played on the ... ...be drawn to the Wii sports tennis game in that it is for between 1 and 4 players (each player requires a Wimote) with player movement being automatically controlled, the player themselves only needs to control the actual hitting of the ball. Unfortunately the game play falls short of the tennis game as it is more complex and there seems to be less control over the pace and direction of where the ball goes so it can get a little tedious.
The beach ...

A lot of reviews basically just say how rubbish this game is but it really is not that bad.
Its good fun especially for the price for which I paid:

The various sports use different wii remote actions, which coincide with the real actions of the various sports.
Volleyball probably uses most actions compared with ...
