It is based at an age group of 3+ but I felt my son was ready for it at 2 as the pieces are quite big I suppose a 1 yr old could get away with playing with it too. The good thing about it is that it is neither a boys or girls toy there are plenty of ... ...the characters arms etc move, wheels of the car go round etc. The bus measures 43 x 52 x 21cm.
Like any other red bus it has two decks the upper being the garden where the family can easily reach by using the ladder from the rear window of the lower deck. The Upper floor has a Piano, chairs, cooker and a bed. There are stickers to represent rugs etc and they have been attached for you unlike some of the toys you get today where you ... more
Ok with CIAO not being so good during the weekend I was at a loose end so I decided to clear out the cupboard in the hall (who knows I may have a car boot sale now lol) and I found loads of stuff that is still in good condition and brought back some memories for me. One thing that stood out was my son's Big Red Fun Bus and believe it or not it still has all the characters etc.
I remember buying this for my son's Second birthday and he loved playing with it, there were the characters, furniture cars etc.

There is an opening side panel which is used for moving things around easily like furniture etc.
The lower deck stores the family car and has a ramp for it to easily move on and off the bus, obviously the driver sits on the lower deck too.
The furniture is great, all the characters fit into each part so its not like specific characters have specific places to be placed. All the pieces are very strong and durable. The only thing you have to watch out for is the doors etc have a tendency to fall off easily.
The front of the bus has the destination sign which you can change whenever you want.
I find this toy was very beneficial to my son, he played with it for hours on end and when he was finished I would tidy it away, but I stored the pieces separately in a plastic storage box so that they didn't go missing as it would be easy for pieces to fall out when stored away.
Now for the availability, I bought this years ago and can't remember how much I paid for it so I done a wee bit of research on the internet for you.
Toys R Us have it (www.toysrus.co.uk) and it is priced at £24.99 I have checked Argos but sadly they don't have it on their website.
One of the great things about the Big Red Fun Bus is that unlike most of the toys today it doesn't require any batteries..

...brilliant toy. Bluebird have been manufacturing toys for years which created imaginative and fun designs for an assortment of toys and The Big Red Fun Bus is no exception. This toy was once voted toy of the year and has been around for decades although I think they may have stopped production now. This toy has certainly stood the test of time because since my niece outgrew it her sister now 6 and my three children 5 and 2 1/5 have all rummaged in ... ...spent hours playing with it. The upper deck of the bus is the outside garden, patio, shower. You can also add your telescope to ensure you can see for miles around to a slot on the roof. The furniture can easily be removed from the upper floor through the opening side panel and then all of the family can laze away on the roof. Bluebird have been a prominant name in toy manufacturing for many years. They have imaginative and fun designs. The Big Red Fun Bus is no exception.
This toy has certainly stood the test of time. My brother, who is now 18, had one when he was a toddler, and so did my 15 year old sister. My sisters one was passed to my 5 year old brother and then on to my 21 month old son!!
Within the playest, you get little solid (rubber almost) figures that are ... ...furniture and a car that they easily fit into.
On the front of the bus, there are changeable destination signs. These helped my brother develop is reading skills. Simply because he found it fun to sit there and work out what each one said and decide where the bus was going.
The good thing about this toy is that it is like a dolls house in bus form. This means that both little boys and girls can play with it. (and also parents I'd say!)
