Advantages: kids can drive round the store, some good bargains. Disadvantages: not local, not all bargains.

There are a few stores in my area but rather than go to the one in Birmingham or Coventry I went to the one at Ventura Retail Park, Tamworth. The first thing I noticed was how big it was, so it certainly lived up to it’s name. It was like going to a big DIY store. With my daughter safely installed in the toy car shopping was made a lot easier.

Last weekend I decided to take a look at Big W. I had heard about it from different people some were impressed, some not, so I wanted to judge for myself.
There are a few stores in my area but rather than go to the one in Birmingham or Coventry I went to the one at Ventura Retail Park, Tamworth. The first thing I noticed was how big it was, so it certainly lived up to it’s name. It was like going to a big DIY store. There was plenty of parking and as the Tamworth store is in a retail park there were other shops to visit too.
As I walked through the door there were loads of trolleys, but my 3 year old daughter spotted the small trolley with the Little Tike’s children’s car at the front. That was it we had to have one of them, there were a few so there was not fighting with the other kids there. There were also some small toy trolleys with Big W flags on them, so you couldn’t miss them in the store. With my daughter safely installed in the toy car shopping was made a lot easier.
Big W is part of the same retail group as Woolworths so it was just like walking round a giant Woolworths, but with a bigger range of products. They claim to stock a huge range of over 55,000 products for the home and family under one roof at every day low prices.
Big W’s state that if you should find a lower price locally before they do then they have a ‘no quibble’ price promise, where they ensure to match or refund the difference up to 7 days after purchase. This should be clearly displayed in store and the customer service team is also available in store to clarify this.
Big W also offers special prices on bulk deals. These are mostly one time only ‘when it’s gone it’s gone’ offers made available due to their ability to make bulk purchases at special prices which are passed on to the customers.
Any product in store with the ‘unbeatable’ symbol is supposed to indicate that the price is the cheapest in the area as it has been checked with the best sellers list.
Big W also claim that any product with the ‘New Lower Price’ symbol is offered at a lower price after negotiation with their suppliers to obtain improved terms on every day products.
I was certainly impressed with the range of products covering the following: -
Women’s, Men’s and Children’s clothing. I noticed that the clothing included not only the Woolworth’s range but also Peacock’s. Kitchen and Home Bedroom and Bathroom Home Style Furniture Garden Garden Furniture Car Care DIY Pet Care Entertainment Toys Tents Sport Luggage Health and Beauty Books Drinks and Confectionery Stationary, Cards and Party Seasonal Big Café
There was a good range of CD’s, videos and DVD’s on display together with hi-fi’s, CD players and DVD players. The prices were quite reasonable, but I did not think the CD’s were any cheaper than the normal shops.
There were huge tubs of washing powder every where so these must have been the special purchase deals. A huge bag of Ariel in a tub that would do 100 washes cost £19.99. A 12 pack of Andrex toilet roll for £3.69. So there were some good deals there and I saw quite a few people buying the washing powder.
Most of the other products like the sweets and pop, stationery, toys and cards were the same price as Woolworths so if you wanted the special purchase deals then it was worth a visit. I would go to Big W again but it is the kind of store you would visit every couple of months for the bargains. I did find the layout of the store good, as everything was easy to find. The best bit has got to be the kid’s trolleys, I have only seen them before in Sainsbury's.
Advantages: cheap, plenty to choose from Disadvantages: none
Big W is a shop that sells everything. Big W is a part of Woolworths, but it is a lot bigger and has a lot more items than Woolworths.
You go in through the automated doors, which is good for the disabled people as they get easy access to the shop. As soon as you go in there is the customer service desk. I have only ever been to the customer service desk once. This was with my dad as he was taking a jumper back. The staff were polite and said he ... ...They usually have in a big white basket all the cheap video's, DVD's and CD's, so you can always find a bargain.
There are lots of toys and bikes for the children. These include board games, barbies, cars and more. There will be something for your kids here.
If your looking for something for your house, then there is plenty to choose from here. These include things for your living room, bedroom and kitchen, for example microwaves, toasters, utensils, ...

Advantages: Variety, cleanliness of store, value, politness of staff. Disadvantages: Limited amount of stores.
...a regular user of the Big W Coventry since it opened up about 12months ago. I have been totally impressed thought the weekly shop after Asda every Saturday. The main thing I like about the Big W is the range of goods it sells.
What do they sell?
The Big W sells practically everything you would want in and around the home. A range of body care products, garden furniture and even cloths. They sell so much because 4 high street shops own the Big W ... ...Superdrug own the Big W.
Kitchenware.
Big W supplies a large amount of kitchenware. They supply a very large amount of stainless steal items. In the kitchen section you can find the latest kettles and toasters and even the sandwich makers.

Advantages: Everything is under one roof, lots of space, good prices Disadvantages: Too much stuff that you want to buy!
...is intriguing and completely new? BIG W IS BETTER! Ta dah! :)
There are as far as I know, 2 Big W's in England. I may be wrong. One of them is in Bolton, where the old Bolton Wanderers Football stadium used to be, and the other one is literally down the road from my house - Cheetham Hill, Manchester. Now the one in Bolton is slightly bigger than the one in Manchester (if that is indeed possible) but the range of products doesn't seem to be affected ... ...Having a cafe means that Big W has a toilet facility as well with a Mother and Baby room, so it's all very convenient. :)
Now if you're anything like me, you'll walk into this shop seeing loads of stuff to buy then remember you have no cash whatsoever! But never fear! There's a cash machine near! Actually, it's in the shop. One of them single ones that just stand there in a corner and take forever to validate your card, but it is nonetheless there!

Advantages: Its huge Disadvantages: Not enough car park spaces.
I have seen the Morrisons all my life, the original Morrisons opened on the outskirts of Bradford town centre. The small corner shop has grown up to having almost 1 shop in every major city around England.
In Bradford the old Morrisons which was on Ingelby Road has recently been knocked down and re-bulit creating a superstore that holds small companies within it.
The other main shops in Bradford like Tesco's and ASDA are also exapanding to create a better battle of the giants in Bradford. The only problem is that they are always full and they never seem to be empty what ever the time you go day or night.
The new Morrisons on Ingelby Road is huge, it has 6 shops inside the main story and a cafe. Next to the main store another up and coming story BigW has opened and it is doing exceptionally well. Next to Morrisons there are ...
I?ve got a little secret. You know that expensive looking italian dinner set I have...Woolworths...you know that tool box radio I?ve got...Woolworths...you know that new CD I bought...Woolworths...You know that engraving tool I have...yes, Woolworths...You know those yummy crisps and sweets in the cupboard...Woolworths...and no-one would guess...so shhh it?s just between you and me ok ;o)
Yes, forget the yellow arches, give me the big red W. It has to be my favourite shop, it?s even open on Sundays which is also my favourite time to visit.
Unlike most women I don?t much like shopping. The idea of wandering around a town all day is just too much for me to bear. The idea of going in one shop to buy everything I need is definitely my idea of heaven, so I guess Woolworths is my little bit of heaven.
For those of you who have never ...
Advantages: huge range of things available for very reasonable prices Disadvantages: too many things I want!!
Last week, I had £45 and - not usually having such riches to fritter away - I planned a trip to our local branch of Woolworths today with my mother-in-law. We are very lucky to have a huge Woolies, known as The BigW. I had plenty of things I wanted to buy, but then the kids suggested we get another cat (after our other one died four months ago), so I put £30 aside to donate to the Cats' Protection League. While waiting for the CPL to contact me to arrange a home visit, RE: said cat (to be named "Slim Shady" incidentally), I went off to The BigW with my rather diminished funds, £15 to be exact.
The shop is pretty big, but I was never impressed at first, especially as it is opposite Matalan and it has always been cheaper there than anywhere else. But having recently been to The BigW to get shoes for two of my daughters, I had nosied ...
