Advantages: Exciting, Unpredictable Disadvantages: Not for the easily disturbed
...Deliverance is the disturbing story of four city men, (Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox.) on a adventure. They plan to descend a river in the wilderness in the middle of red neck country.
The day starts well enough, they pay some locals to give them a hand getting to the river. Theres a strange scene with a deformed albino "dueling banjos." And off they set down the river.
It all starts going wrong when two of the adventurers are attacked. This is where it gets hard to stomach, the hillbillys perform a sickening rape on Bobby after taunting and humiliating him, (riding on his back forcing him to squeal like a pig. Lewis, (Burt Reynold) comes to the rescoe and harpoons the offending hillbilly., but the other gets away......
The four of them after a heated debate decide the best course of action would be to bury...

Squeal like a pig Review ofFilm Classic: Deliverance - James Dickeyby
stevesingh
Advantages: Much better in DVD format Disadvantages: Can't think of any at the moment
...Just watched Deliverance on DVD, and it's easily as good as i remember it from the first time.
A real boys and bonding film.
Lush cinematography and direction from John Boorman (not the best surname in the world), although i think it was even better in "The Emerald Forest", and really good performances from Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds (and you have to admit, he doesn't give that many); plus the immortal "squeal like a pig" scene, something that will stay in your mind for the rest of your life.
And besides that, the "duelling banjoes" scene and theme.
I know that its been on television, but in the letterbox DVD format, it really did bring it back to life again....

When crime pays Review ofBurglar Bill - Allan Ahlberg, Janet Ahlbergby
anwar
Advantages: A great story Disadvantages: none
...I am a fan of Janet and Allan Ahlberg and we have several of their books such as the jolly postman and peepo. So when one fine sunny day I spotted a copy of burglar Bill by these authors for the bargain price of 10p, at the local car boot sale I snapped it up! Burglar Bill has been a firm favourite with my children ever since.
The story
************
The story is about a man named Bill who lives alone, and… you’ve guessed it, is a burglar. During the day Bill sleeps in his stolen bed after he has consumed his breakfast of stolen toast and marmalade. His house is full of stolen property. When the rest of us honest folk are in bed Bill gets up and goes to work. He steals such things as a toothbrush, That’s a nice toothbrush I’ll have that and puts it into his sack. He is also partial to tins of baked beans, hats and the odd coat...
