Binatone e800 - the budget handset

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Lack of enhanced functions

Introduction At work, we still live in the dark ages where wired telephones are very much the norm. In our office however, we have dedicated support PC's which we constantly need to move to from our own PC's. As it was getting silly with trailing wires all over the office floor, the boss decided to buy us a new hands free phone kit. The kit he went for was the Binatone E800 twin set. I think this was probably the cheapest he could find but nonetheless we were still grateful as it was an unexpected gesture from him. In the box The box itself was very small, containing just the 2 handsets, 2 small bases, a power lead and the instruction manual. Being IT guys, we completely ignored the manual and attempted to set the phones up the way we thought. Setup Before we could use the handsets, they needed to be ...

Samsung G600

Advantages: Stylish, Radio
Disadvantages: Camera

The G600 is one of the new phones from the Samsung line. With the company being known to have great phones and be famously free with contracts nationwide I couldn't help but get this as my most recent upgrade. Contents When purchasing the G600 you get several different items within the box. Starting with a 1GB memory card which normally retails at £10 this is the first bargain. Next you have a Bluetooth headset with the Samsung logo. Most of these will start at £15 if they are branded. You get earphones with a power part in the middle to pick up local radio signals, a charger for your phone and your Bluetooth headset, software CD which serves as an instruction manual and links your phone to your computer so you can download music, photos etc. This leads to the final item - a USB cable so you can connect the two. Look ...

Caprice... ain't she a model?

Advantages: Cosy, great range of food and prices
Disadvantages: Can be a bit slow with service

How can I describe the Caprice? It's small. Cosy I would say. It's tucked away on a small high street corner in Musselburgh and on a winters night it's great to sit in there and watch the world go by. THe decor is.... tacky. There is some very bad carving on the walls (Especially the "deer". Least that's what I think it's meant to be. Keep meaning to ask) but it all adds to the atmosphere of the place. Well; I keep telling myself that anyway!! The downstairs only seats about 40 people maybe. And I must admit it can be a bit cramped. But again; it's cosy. The food on offer ranges from basic pizzas through the normal pastas onto veal, and half+half (Consiting of half a pizza and a smaller than normal serving of pasta of your choice). The range of food is great. Starters include the usual soups and prawn cocktails ...
