Then I saw this combo in the Argos catalogue. A corded base unit, with answering machine, combined with a DECT cordless handset. EXCELLENT!!! And at what seemed like an amazingly reasonable price of under £40. Setting it up was straightforward for the base unit, literally 'plug and play' and simple for the handset after the initial charging period. One good feature was that the handset did not need 'registering' to the base unit; it was already done. The answering machine or cordless handset will not work in a power cut, but the main base unit will. Sound quality in both base and hand set was good with variable sound levels, perfect if your hearing is a little compromised.
If you have used a DECT and/or answering machine system before you may find the differences with this set-up slightly annoying, but a careful read of the pretty good manual should help. There are 18 ring tones, some of which are so appalling they would rouse your teenage child before 7 a.m. There are also levels of the ringer, handy if you have a large home or dislike a strident noise. Add in a good amount of name and number storage, transfering calls between base and handset (which took a few tries to figure out but works well), speakerphone, redial and caller display and this is a cracking package and stunning value for money. Highly recommended if you want the security of a standard base unit with the versatility of a DECT cordless at a reasonable price.

When looking for a home phone , i spent ages trying to find a set up that would work for our situation, a duplex 2 bed appartment with one bedroom turned into an office for my hobby and hopefully future business as a freelance photographer.
I wanted a desk top phone as i know that the other half has a habit of losing cordless phones, so having one tied to the desk makes sense, especially if there important calls.
We also decided that a cordless ... ...general home usage.
This was one of the only set-ups i found that actually combined the two in one package, at a very reasonable price, a Big plus.
The phones themselves are actually incrediably good, definately a lot more than i expected, very good clear audio on both the desk phone and the cordless (even outside and a good range)

Advantages: Speakerphone on both handset and base Disadvantages: Some features may be a bit difficult to set up and use
The Good:
- price
- good display, nice features
- good range. 300 meters seems correct.
- base works when power is off. Remembers memory afterwards.
- speaker on the base and handset ie. handsfree
- not affected by computer or wireless modem devices.
The Bad:
- no keypad backlight for handset. - base and handset cannot be used at same time for one call. So if you pick up a call with the base, you cannot then use the handset to also talk.
... ...can only be used from the handset even though the message light flashes on the base (very strange)
- would be nice if the handset automatically answered a call when you lifted it off its charging station.
Overall:
Its a good basic system for the price! It beats other phone's with higher prices and has all the components I need in a phone system. I didn't have a problem with the memory. It is a bit difficult to set up but once they are in its fine. ...

i bought the binatone fusion 2510 with a bit of intrepadition after hearing comments like crap,lousy and so on.however i said nothing beats a try so i bought one,boy am i glad i did,i am the worlds worst when it comes to setting up anything but with the manual provided i found it to be a doddle !! the sound is fantastic and the features on this phone are great and not hard to use,i will not be knocking binatone,its a great phone at a great price and i thoroughly recommend it. ...

Seriously disappointing. The blurb says "120 memory". In fact, it's limited to 80 on the corded and 40 on the wireless...but the corded can't even take 80 if there are more than a few characters in the name (I got it to 41).
Plus, it's a terribly laborious process putting records into memory...and almost as bad actually using them.
I'm taking the one I bought back. Absolutely not fit for purpose, and mis-described on the package. ...
