The best Binoculars?

Advantages: Awesome build quality, easy to handhold, very high overall sharpness of image, neutral colour balance of image
Disadvantages: Close focus disappointing, some colour fringing in extreme contrast situations

...Trinovids. The catalogue issued by Leica waxed lyrical about the numerous improvements which had been made over the previous Leitz models. Obviously the first thing noticed was the improved shape and ergonomics, easy to handhold and focus. Now I'm comparing two different types of binocular as I'd previous owned a pair of 10x40 as opposed to the 8x50's. The main reason for a change was the ability to hold the 8x more steady than the 10x-but that is ...
...of things-the optical performance. Leica had clamed big things for it's new range of Binoculars involving new glasses and lens coating and also something called Phase-Correction coating of the prisms. Did it improve things? Certainly, I noticed a remarkably bright sharp image with a depth and bite which wasn't present even with my 10x40's. The other pluses were centre-to-edge sharpness and an absolutley neutral colour balance. Some other top makes ...

Nikon Action VII 8x40 cf - Highly Recommend

Advantages: Optical quality and build excellent
Disadvantages: Being very fussy no neck strap on case

I bought these binoculars as I was looking for a new pair of good quality bin,s for birdwatching on a budget.Having searched a long time for a pair of roof prism's at around £100 + for a half decent pair, I was amazed by the quality and of the optics and the price of these porro prism bins. The sharpness, brightness & colour rendition is superb, a real testament to the optical quality. I can't imagine how I managed to live with my previous bin's ...
...solid and well built, being very comfortable in the hand, if a little on the heavy side. They come with a comfortable neck strap and a soft case, although the case annoyingly doesn't have a neck strap. The body is fully rubber armorred & although not stated as being waterproof, I have found them to be very durable when out in the field. The focusing mechanism is very simple to use and really smooth. It doesn't need constant readjustment like some ...

Great for bird watchers

Advantages: Fantastic zoom, great value for money
Disadvantages: A little heavy when walking

...shop introduced me to the Bresser range, and despite my initial concerns over size and weight was 'sold with the Hunter 10x50. These are a very reasonably priced pair, costing around £ 40. They have fantastic light transmission, and their fully coated optics produce an ultra clear high-contrast image replication, this is particularly suitable I find when using the higher magnification. TECHNICALS... Objective Diameter (mm): 50 Magnification: ...
...5 Close Focus (m): 5 BK-7 Porro Prism design Fully coated optics Width (mm): 165 Length (mm): 192 Depth (mm): 60 Weight (gms): 750 They are coated in a very tough rubber 'armouring', with rubber fold down eye cups and I currently use them on a mounted tripod for ease. They are less portable than some of the smaller sets available, but if your objective is quality and high calibre zoom then I can thoroughly recommend them. SUMMARY Robust ...

Olympus 8X25 WP I

Advantages: Image adjustments to give great view, waterproof, adjustable eye-relief
Disadvantages: fixed magnification, average build and design quality

...better and closer perspective. The Olympus 8X25 WPI is labeled professional, but can obviously be used by everyday and ordinary people. These particular binoculars have an 8x magnification ability. This is simply the power of magnification on the binoculars, the 8x magnification means that the object or area you view through the binoculars is going to appear 8x larger or closer. The 8x magnification also means that this is the maximum and minimum ...
...the lens and prism quality. Olympus have taken great care in the mechanical and alignment quality of these binoculars, although its design quality is not very good. The high-density Bak-4 prism as well as the good mechanical and alignment quality of these very binoculars means that it produces bright, high contrast and fairly sharp images. The very good mechanical and alignment quality means that very light components have been put together with ...
