...Chamomile has two species which are used for their medicinal properties Roman and German Chamomile.
Chamomile is well known and used by aromatherapists, herbalists and homeopaths. Both species have similar properties which include being antiseptic, analgesic, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory and sedative.
As a tea infusion it is used for tummy problems, nerves and insomnia.
As an ointment it can be applied to wounds, skin conditions e.g. eczema.
It can be even used as a mouthwash and an eyewash when a tincture of chamomile is added to sterile water.
As a chamomile essential oil it is particularly well known and effective for asthma and eczema.
When it is completely pure, it is a blue ink colour and it is very expensive, infact it normally costs about £11.00- £25.00 for only 5ml.

The smell of chamomile oil is not particularly pleasant and is rather pungent. The essential oil can be rather costly too, but taken in the tea form has plenty of benefits so there’s not all that much requirement to go out and buy the oil.
The tea bags should cost around £1.20 most boxes contain around 20 tea bags though it all depends on which manufacturers product is supplied. From all good supermarkets and health shops. If you dont know if you are going to like the taste and dont want to fork out for a whole box, some health shops do sell the tea bags in a single bag pack. I know that my local one does at least....

More than a million cups of Chamomile tea are consumed daily.
Because it is something you are not used to, when you try the tea you need to give it a cup or two to adjust to the new and unique flavor, which is really quite pleasant, with a flowery fruity aroma and clean taste. I do not get dusty bits in the bottom of the cup, and it has a clear golden colour which is very attractive. My tip for newbies, do not brew too strong initially, and add honey if you wish to sweeten, though I like it as is.
