...I keep getting asked to do reviews on certain herbs, seems I have found a bit of a following. Cowslip - Primula veris ***The Plant*** Cowslip is also known as St Peters keys, Fair bells, Herb Peter, Keys of Heaven, and Golden Drops to name a few. The herb is native to Northern & Central Europe, Cowslip can be found any many areas including meadows, pastures, and has even been found to be growing up 6000ft up mountain sides. Legend has it that St Peter keys let his keys to heaven drop to earth after he learned there was a duplicate set had been made, and where the keys had fallen Cowslip's grew, hence the name Keys of Heaven. Cowslip has got its name from a old English saying "Cu-sloppe" as it was found to grow where cows had done there business (yuck). ...TO CONSIDER * Try not to eat too many complex carbohydrates (sugar, biscuits, bread, potatoes, root vegetables and cereals). These are eventually converted into sugars inside your body, which of course yeast thrives on. Eat more refined carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread, and pasta, and brown rice. *Cut down on foods that are yeast-based products like Marmite, mushrooms, cheese. bread and alcohol. *Dring cranberry juice, this cleanses the bladder of bad bacteria which can stop the yeast from thriving. It also cleans the uretha of all bacteria which can lead to cystitis. Alternatively take cranberry tablets which are avaliable from health shops such as Holand and Barratt. *Eat natural live Bio Yoghurt. This is full of good bacteria called lactobacilli, which prevents yeast from breeding. You can also put live bio yoghurt inside you vagina... Read review

...either chew on a piece of peeled root ginge or make a ginger drink by bruising the root ginger lightly with a rolling pin (releasing flavour and goodness) you don't need to peel it, then adding it to some hot water and lemon juice, you can also add honey. This is also good for colds, flu and sore throats. Crystallised ginger is also good for upset stomachs and vitality. It always seems to perk me up! Ginger has anti inflammatory properties and can help lessen the pain of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ginger can help with athelets foot just bruise the root ginger and add it to a bowl of warm water and soak your feet in it. Do this several times a week until the athletes foot goes, it really does work.
