...The Hozelock 2000, like all of the hozelock range is of exceptional quality. The version I have pumps 600 litres per hour and comes complete with foam filter and more than ample power-cord. I have used mine now for about 18 months... and have found that it is virtually maintenance free. If like me you thought that all garden pumps are the same, then you could'nt be further from the mark. I have found to my expense, that this just is'nt true. Before buying the Hozelock 2000, I had in fact purchased two other garden pumps, both of which burned out on me after several thousand hours of use. This, so the makers of the pumps told me, is just about the norm....but not so with the Hozelock 2000. All I do now, is check the pond once every 48 hours to check that there is sufficient water.... and check the filter is clean, one a fortnight... Read review

Advantages: No drained ponds
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

..., the water will pour out of the top of the box and drain the pond. With a top flow filter if the water level begins to rise then it simply reaches the open top of the outflow pipe assembly and can flow into the pond without obstruction no matter how gummed up the filter gets. I have been using one of these filters for three years and have no complaints whatsoever. They even make a UV clarifier especially for this filter that can be added later.... Read review
