Genius or crackpot?
Review of Made in Sheffield: Neil Warnock - My Story - Neil Warnock by shanediablo

Advantages: Neil Warnock
Disadvantages: Neil Warnock

There are individuals in sports that only come around so often. People that get everyone talking whether it be how much they admire them or how much they dislike them; Neil Warnock fits this category perfectly. Controversy follows him everywhere, so it is fitting that he should produce an autobiography that i'm sure even those that hate him so much would be just a little intrigued to read. This is the story of one of english domestic football's ...
...humble beginnings in Sheffield through an unglamorous but respectable playing career to a managerial career littered with controversy, success and disappointment. The dream of the Sheffield born man and Blades fan was always to manage his beloved Sheffield United and this dream was realised. He was hated by sections of his own teams support often but his team battled adversity to reach the promised land of the premiership - only to be denied by ... Read review

Good If Appreciated
Review of A Journal of the Plague Year - Daniel Defoe by danwa9

Advantages: Expertly written
Disadvantages: No chapters/sections to 'break up' the reading

I'm a student and had to read this book for an exam. I read it in 2 days and felt quite tired by the end of it. The main reason being that there are no chapters or sections, so it is basically one long detailed insight into what life was like during the Plague. However, it is very well written and there are times where the reader's emotions are 'pulled at'. The detailed descriptions of both people and places allow the reader to feel part of the drama. ...
...would not recommend this book to anyone who does not appreciate good literature as you will get easily bored and find it difficult to continue reading. However, if you like pre-18th Century Literature and enjoy a good piece of writing, i would highly recommend this old yet insightful masterpiece. ... Read review

Pushed to the Limit
Review of Jordan: Pushed to the Limit - Katie Price by sewbizzie

Advantages: Interesting reading
Disadvantages: None

Pushed to the Limit is the new auto-biography by Jordan / Katie Price. Having read her previous ones I really was hoping that this book was better than the last and I am pleased to say that it was. The cover of the book has a white background and a picture of Katie holding her head and the title in white lettering at the bottom and her real name in pink lettering at the side. The back cover of the book has a black background a has a full picture ...
...The book consists of 18 chapters with the first starting on Christmas Eve with this being Juniors first Christmas. Katie goes on to talk about how bad and depressed she felt after having given birth to Junior and how she was diagnosed with postnatal depression. As the book moves on she talks very openly about how her depression was ruining her life as everything was getting on top of her. We learn about how it affected her relationship with Peter ... Just a little bloke who drives cars on the telly?
Review of On The Edge - Richard Hammond by kingfisher111

Advantages: very readable, honest and moving
Disadvantages: none

...a jet car, which occurred on 20th September 2006. When I saw that he had written a book about what happened and his road to recovery, I knew I was going to have to read it. The first thing to say is that although you might find the book in the autobiography section of any good book shop, that is not really what it is. There are a couple of chapters which talk about his childhood and how he got the job on Top Gear but much of his thirty six years ...
...people saw the crash shown on TV they could hardly think he would survive let alone recover so well. That is what makes this book such a moving and involving read. One of the things you really gain a sense of from the book is how close knit Richard Hammond's family is. His wife Mindy played such a key role in nursing her husband, his two daughters were incredibly brave when 'Daddy was poorly' and his parents, brothers and their families formed a ... Read review
