Review of Ginger Nuts. The Unauthorised Biography Of Chris Evans - Howard Johnson by naffcaff

Advantages: Excellent account
Disadvantages: Could have had more details about Evans' childhood

...up as a presenter and Ginger Nuts accurately covers the part of his career which rocketed him to A List celebrity status, particular when he was poached by the TV station B-SkyB and later as main presenter for Channel 4’s smash hit Big Breakfast. Many backroom people from the Big Breakfast have approached the tabloids with stories of Evans’ ego, but Howard Johnson investigates this thoroughly and paints a different picture. The books ...
...success and a doddle for Ginger to produce, think again and read Johnson’s revelations. Johnson also covers the story of his move to present the Radio One Breakfast Show in 1995, though I would recommend a book called “The Nations’ Favourite” by Simon Garfield for anyone interested in a detailed account of Matthew Bannister era of Radio One (Bannister being the guy at Radio One who radically changed the station by sacking ... I will never get over the loss of my tufty badge
Review of On the Edge of a Lifetime - Frank McGillion by borntoloaf

Advantages: A thoroughly entertaining but disturbing read
Disadvantages: Would have liked to have seen the author draw more from the Scottish culture

...Tufty badge and loosing it on the way home. I’ve never gotten over that loss and to this day it still haunts me. I remember clearly where I dropped it and can still recall searching for it every-time I passed that spot. Several months later, my family and I moved towns, and my searches had to cease. THE MAD MEDDLING MONK Of course I can still remember other events in my childhood and snatches of conversation, but as the years pass and I turn into ...
...people pen their autobiographies: how on earth do they recall conversations with such detail? Did they minute each conversation like a paranoid Keeper on Traken? Or did they have a special Dictaphone like Sarah Jane Smith on the heels of a hot story? Or did they just use a bit of artistic prose and make it up! Frank McGillion refreshingly says that’s just what he did. Don’t make the mistake of reading his autobiography about his childhood without ... Read review

ANGELS & DEMONS - PAUL SCOTT
Review of Robbie Williams: Angels and Demons - Paul Scott by Shazrene

Advantages: Good read hightlight the highs and lows throughout his career to date
Disadvantages: If this was an official biography it could possibly have ended up being more in depth

...people from Robbies past as Robbie has not given this book his seal of approval, it is therefore based on interviews of people who are tucked away in his past, who he has either had legal wrangles with or has simply fallen out with. Paul Scott has written this book as well as it could be written under the circumstances, he has covered relevant areas with some tact and gives an insight to Robbies early years, growing up in a one parent family, early ...
...darker times that came when Robbie left 'take that'. It is the darker times, through Robbies drinking/drugs/rehab period that the author tends to dwell on the most, which fan or not, does make for some interesting reading. All said and done, It is worth a read, and does explain to new fans where some of Robbies deeper lyrics may have come from. If anything it shows that Robbie Williams could have easily been another pop tragedy, and he has come ... Read review

Disadvantages: May be found quite hard going

Carla Van Raay's autobiography "Gods Callgirl" details the life of a naive, immature girl, then woman who is devoted to God but goes from obedient convent girl to sexual prostitute over the course of her life, but remains as naive as ever. This life story is divided into three parts and develops the tale of this Dutch girl's life over the course of the book. Part one examines the life of a child abused by her father, yet finding she felt abandoned ...
...God from a very young age. As a school girl she idolising the convent and her sole ambition in life is to serve God as a nun in one of Australia's many convents.
