A Compelling Story
Review of Long Walk to Freedom - Nelson Mandela by ICATJAM

Advantages: Informative
Disadvantages: Inexperienced readers may find it long and linguistically difficult

At last I found the quality time in my life to read the story of this living legend. The story of just a man but a man with the strongest convictions of any man in history. A man who lived through his imprisonment to see his dream begin. I say begin because as we know there are still many injustices in his country which are not yet ironed out. Mnay things have been said in previous reveiws and I shall not attempt to repeat them. i only say that this ... Read review

Sheffield Steel!
Review of Made in Sheffield: Neil Warnock - My Story - Neil Warnock by thedevilinme

Advantages: Top English manager
Disadvantages: Self-centered read

...current manager. Sunderland, of course, made the final that year against Liverpool and the rest is history. But when the Nott's County chairman sold star striker Paul Rideout behind his back the nest season the trust was lost and he wished he had taken up the other offers. Neil falls out with all of his chairman. After a short assistant coach gig to help keep Torquay stay up, a dramatic 700 mile round trip and win at Carlisle the requisite, Huddersfeild ...
...low and behold, Plymouth, too, made the play-off final and returned to division one with another victory, surely the play off king now! Here Warnock explains why the Plymouth Argyle chairman was the latest to fall out with him; the petty reason given that Warnock had booked a 'slightly bigger suite' than his chairman's in the same hotel, Warnock informed it was a sackable offence. At one point the relationship was so bad; he charged Warnock for the ... Read review

Everyone should read this book!
Review of The Game - Neil Strauss by jlo1984

Advantages: Great writing, the story just gets more crazy as it goes on
Disadvantages: Lots of abbreviations, but there's a key in the back.

...to take a look into the world of the Pick-up artists. These are what you could call proffessionals at picking up women. Now, while most people might say to themselves "Hmmm, that's interesting, an online community dedicated to picking up girls" and leave it at that, Neil Strauss decided to take an incredibly giant leap into the community. He befriends all sorts of pick up artists, from the now infamous Mystery, who is pretty messed up in reality ...
...pick up girls. NLP is the subject of many books in it's self, but in a very basic way of saying things, it's a way of hypnotism. Strauss discovers himself in this book, makes many livestyle changes, and eventually gains the pseudonym "Style" from his pickup buddies. It doesn't stop there though, this book starts off interesting, but then just gets crazy. A group of pickup artists living together in a Hollywood mansion, built purely around the basis ... What The Duce!
Review of Mussolini: A New Life - Nicholas Farrell by JoePoirot

Advantages: Interesting subject
Disadvantages: Questionable moral standpoint

Nicholas Farrell is an ex Daily Telegraph journalist who has settled in Italy. Specifically, he has settled in Predappio, the village where Mussolini was born and buried after his summary execution by partisans. I am not certain if he moved there in order to write this biography or as a result of his undoubted admiration for Mussolini but this certainly comes through in no uncertain terms. It is definitely surprising to find a biography of this ...
...senior partner in the dictators club are still too near historically for a proper perspective. The pain and destruction caused by their policies is still raw after sixty odd years. There are still plenty of people alive bearing scars from the sufferings inflicted by the German and Italian aggressions. However one of Farrell's arguments is precisely that Mussolini is inevitably, sometimes unfairly, lumped together with Hitler as evil incarnate. Mussolini's ... Read review

Sir Humphrey tells it like it is
Review of Straight Face - Nigel Hawthorne by JOHNV

Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: none

To me, Sir Nigel Hawthorne always came across as an unassuming, even self-deprecating, thoroughly decent man, without a trace of pretension. He was also one of my favourite actors of the last twenty years or so. And I’m happy to say that this memoir, written while he was fighting the cancer which killed him, does nothing to counteract that picture of an extremely likeable person. Born in England in 1929, he and the family emigrated to South ...
...bug during his schooldays, he realised that the only way he could further his ambitions of making it his career was to make the journey home again. After years of struggling with minor roles, occasionally on TV but mainly on the stage, he landed the role of Sir Humphrey Appleby in ‘Yes Minister’ and ‘Yes Prime Minister’, and the title role in ‘The madness of King George’, and from then on he never looked back. ...
