A Monster And His Subject
Review of The Life and Death of Peter Sellers - Roger Lewis by JoePoirot

Advantages: Interesting subject
Disadvantages: Unbalanced and rambling

Roger Lewis biography of the late Peter Sellers, another ex-Goon but better known for his many successful films with the Pink Panther series probably being the most popular, was first published in 1994. However this book became the basis for the eponymous film "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers", starring Geoffrey Rush, and has thus acquired a new lease of life. I prefer to leave the conclusions to my reviews until the end, sadly Lewis does not ...
...i.e. "the biographer". I use the inverted commas advisedly as this is the most vile piece of character assassination I have ever come across. Sellers had a chequered life and career. He came from humble beginnings and there was a music-hall background through his grandparents. During the war he perfected his amazing facility for vocal impersonations - he would, for example, stroll into an officers mess and enjoy the facilities by pretending to be ... Read review

Feared by the blues loved by the reds!!!
Review of The Autobiography - Ryan Giggs by dazmufc

Advantages: a very very good read
Disadvantages: cant think of any!

A scintilating account of the dashing Manchester United winger loved by fans worldwide for his silky skills fast pace,oh if only he was English thousands have said! (me included),although he played for England schoolboys he couldnt play for England at a higher level because he was brought up in Wales till the age of 7 thus making him ineligible for further England honours.Surprisingly for Giggsy`s talent he has only won 52 caps not because of his ...
...player at Old Trafford since the start of the 1990`s making his home debut against Everton at Old Trafford. In his first Manchester derby he scored the winner in a 1-0 win.Ryan has shown loyalty to Manchester United in a era of the game when the word "loyalty" is very few and far between. This book gives his version of his memorable sucesses on the pitch through the robson and cantona times to THAT goal in the F.A Cup semi final against Arsenal which ... Coleen McLoughlin: Welcome to my world
Review of Welcome to My World - Coleen McLoughlin by louiseyd

Advantages: Cheap, fun and easy to read
Disadvantages: I want her life

I bought this book on a spur of the moment shopping trip, basically because I was interested to see how Coleen went from being a schoolgirl to a WAG in such a short space of time. I was amazed to read her story and see how down to earth she really was, even after being catapulted at amazing speed into the limelight. She was even thoughtful enough to come back to her book and update it with her wedding plans for the release of the paperback edition. ...
...quick life update, within which she includes girly pages with tips on make-up, fashion, nights out and quizzes, making it so much more like a diary. It is really easy to read and highly enjoyable to learn how down to earth she is and how she enjoys nothing more than snuggling on her sofa watching the soaps just like the rest of us. ... Little girl lost.... then found!
Review of Little Girl Lost - Barbie Probert-Wright & Jean Ritchie by sarahbarrow

Advantages: Shows a reverse perspective.
Disadvantages: Heartbreaking at times.

...six, makes this sometimes a little difficult to read and comprehend. ( I have a six year old daughter and the idea of her seeing the atrocities that the author did is heartbreaking to me). Amongst all the fear, desperation, hunger and complete and utter exhaustion is the story of the true hero's of this book……. The people. The true humanitarian feeling you get throughout the entire book is astounding, the people who have nothing and nowhere to ...
...a stranger, the people who fear for their homes due to the "invasion" of the English and like, who at a moments notice, will have someone "billeted" to them, ( this is what they called the refugees, after they were allocated a bed or home in the village they happen to come across) and show the refugees unforgettable kindness by providing a warm bed for the night and a delicious meal to boot. This book is full of sadness, and the stories of the complete ... Read review
