Tales of a fast lady.
Review of Spreading My Wings - Diana Barnato Walker by
Nige7Whit
Advantages: Fascinating historical account of a remarkable woman.
Disadvantages: None
If you're into the history of aviation, you should love this book, it charts the action packed life and adventures of a woman born in 1918 to a somewhat wealthy family, and her exploits in the Air Transport Auxilliary (ATA) as a ferry pilot, delivering new aircraft from factories to the fighting squadrons in World War 2, often without radios or navigation equipment (which presented a hazard on it's own).
Later, after the war, she continued flying, ...

Shantaram
Review of Shantaram - Gregory David Roberts by
dprd
Advantages: Very addictive and intriguing book based on real life
Disadvantages: gets a little vague inbetween
An awesome story of a guy who will not give up, a refreshing perspective on "no matter how bad it gets it would get worse" shantharam is a story based on real life that exposes its readers to surreal circumstances, once picked up can never pt down a brilliant piece that explores layers in both human perceptions through run away convict and the Mafia community of a world unknown to him.
The best part of the book is it takes one back to the time with ... ...lives of this "invisible society " that is structured around our social fabric and comprehending the reasons and sympathisisng with the circumstances which would other wise not be acceptable. The book ialthough is so complex with multi discplinary facets of individuals who lead a very ambigious life surprisingly that dosnt sink into the reader while reading,
It hits like a jolt when contemplating about what was read, over all a must read book ...

Kidnapped.
Review of Some Other Rainbow - John McCarthy by
Salgirl
Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion
I'm not sure why I bought this book. I'd been swept along with the country's fascination in the most strained love story to hit the headlines for many years. If it hadn't have been for Jill Morrell's desperate attempts to keep people focussed on her boyfriend's situation, I doubt that his or Brian Keenan's name would be as well known as they are now, or indeed whether they would even be alive. As it was, we got to see Jill's campaigns, felt for her ... ...that she would marry her prince charming when he was free.
A weighty tome, the story starts with a brief introduction to their blossoming relationship, and it's established that these are two, well-suited individuals who worked hard at the profession of journalism.
John McCarthy was young, good looking, charming and covering the news in Beirut during 1986. Before he could complete his journey back home after a couple of months away, he was captured ...

Silent Sisters
Review of Silent Sisters - Jenny Tomlin by
crazibaby
Advantages: Great book !
Disadvantages: na
I dont even know if this will reach Jenny Tomlin but I am hoping that she someone will read this
I am very touched and feel like I have been touched by an Angel after reading this book. Jenny you are an amazing lady, you are so strong willed and I think that your endurance has paid off.
I have found a way to a better life after reading your book. I would have to say this is the best written book I have ever read. Your Sister Kim is also a strong ... ...reading the horrible parts of your childhood and how it all continued into adulthood.
I am amazed that you never gave up hope, after so many dead ends, you stayed strong and grasped on to hope.
I am a struggling single mother,at 22 and trying to make the best life for me and my son. I had him at 18 and although I was upset that his father refused to meet him, and probably never will, my views have changed after reading your book, and I now think ...
