This was an excellent book about the difficult life of a young chinese girl who was mistreated my her cruel stepmother. This book had me in tears reading it but i found myself unable to put it down, i cannot wait to read the sequel "Falling Leaves".I disagree strongly with droopy13's review as their is no whinging tone to the book it is merely an account of Adeline's childhood. Funny, entertaining, not that steamy really... For the intellectual ones, don't search for an analysis on prostitutes' behaviour or extensive descriptions of characters in it. It's not that type of book. In my opinion, the tv series with Billy Piper were more entertaining, although they don't leave anything to the imagination. I did have a giggle with it though. Best read as a supplement to your monthly Cosmopolitan, which these days is more explicit ...
