SHOCKING READ
Review of Behind closed doors - Jenny Tomlin by cattyce

Advantages: a good read
Disadvantages: depressing

I found this book in our local charity shop for a £1 its original price should have been £7.99. I dont usually read biographies, but something in the title intruiged me. It is about an east end family who grew up in depressing conditions with little money. Jenny and her sister oftern suffered under their father who used them to gain moeny from the authorities..The father failed to work as he supposedly had fits. Although he was still capable of ...
...but is not believed. The girls only repireve is when they go to visit thier Aunt. The thing which touched me is Jenny has included family photos in the book, these photos say so much that words cannot, the expressions on the faces, the body language being portrayed its all there, the photos upsset me more than reading the book. The shocking thing near the end is that jenny is martin mccutheons mum. (tiffany in eastenders) ... Read review

secrets told
Review of Bunny Tales: Behind Closed Doors at the Playboy Mansion - Izabella St James by josie.marie

Advantages: gives a truer idea of life at the mansion
Disadvantages: names of celebs are removed! I want to know who did what!

I'm always interested in biographies/stories of peoples lives and after watching Girls of the Playboy Mansion a "true to life" look at life in the playboy mansion, i began to wonder what truths they left out to keep a reasonably clean image of playboy. I read that this gave a real insight into the life at the mansion and the girls, and what the girls really had to do to become playmates. The fact that the author is well educated shows another side ...
...has their ideas about what goes on in Hef's bedroom but this book proves that the unthinkable is possible. Its a hardback book, isnt too long and isnt filled with addition lies just to make it longer! Its really interesting, if you want to know about it but theres no real story, i'd recommend if you like biographies & have an interest in playboy. ... Read review

Ireland's No1- A true sporting legend
Review of Back from the Brink: The Autobiography - Paul McGrath by SamRoversNo1

Advantages: Heartwarmingly honest
Disadvantages: None

Having just finished this book i have to tell you how superbly written it is. Paul McGrath and established sports journalist Vincent Hogan put together a great insight into McGraths emotionally charged life. All I remembered of McGrath from his footballing career was his Aston Villa heyday and subsequent clubs Derby and Sheffield United. This book offers a great side of McGrath that the press were kept away from including ; suicide attempts and his ...
...about his alcoholism and his tough upbringing in different orphanages in Dublin. He moved to Ireland aged 6weeks and placed into the orphanage; not that he was unwanted by his mother but he was born at the wrong place and wrong time and couldn't be looked after. The story of McGrath also tells of his struggle re-structure his life after he left the orphanage system. This led him to 'crash' as he put it, this meant that he could barely function. the ... Belle de jour
Review of Belle De Jour: Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl - Anonymous by cagon

Advantages: funny
Disadvantages: none

Funny, entertaining, not that steamy really... For the intellectual ones, don't search for an analysis on prostitutes' behaviour or extensive descriptions of characters in it. It's not that type of book. In my opinion, the tv series with Billy Piper were more entertaining, although they don't leave anything to the imagination. I did have a giggle with it though. Best read as a supplement to your monthly Cosmopolitan, which these days is more explicit ...
...you. Thinking about it, if you are a man you can read it too! You'll be surprised! Easily read, in a diary format. Cheap to buy. Not so easy to carry in public transport, overall if you have the version with Billie in her underwear on the cover. Haha! ... Read review
