Max Clifford - Read all about it
Review of Max Clifford. Read All About It - Max Clifford, Angela Levin by
leet1978
Advantages: there are none!
Disadvantages: doesn't tell you any secrets which is why you bought book in first place!
I have often seen Max Clifford on television and thought wow! the secrets that man could tell! So when I bought the book I couldn't wait to start reading. To say I was didappointed is an understatement! It cleary says on the front cover a quote from Peirs Morgan "Max knows more secrets of the stars than anyone else" Well, if he does, he sure kept them to himself! Sure enough he went into some gritty details about some scandals some celebritys got ... ...I dont care how one top hollywood actor nearly had a gay porno film come out with him in it years ago and how if it hadn't been kept hidden it would've ruined the stars career! I want to know who it was! This book just gave me more to be curious about. I now find myself trying to guess who he was talking about!
He also goes on about how much he looked after his only daughter as she was disabled, yet of all he still had time to cheat on his wife ...

Bill Clinton's Vision For The 21st Century
Review of My Life - Bill Clinton by
jankperegrine
Advantages: engaging, thoughtful memoirs
Disadvantages: quite long with unneeded detail
...then to dispel that idea. My Life follows a 1996 book, Between Hope And History, that greatly expands on Bill Clinton’s joy of living, helping others and building a bridge to the 21st century. “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow,” everybody.
Did you know that he was born without a father and his recently-widowed mother needed to leave him with her parents until she could be trained for a job? Did you know that he was almost gored to death by a ram ... ...complexity of the man. Throughout My Life we see through his revealing eyes him as a boy, young man, husband and father as well as politician and his experiences of hearing Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech, meeting John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, then how he came to understand that their assassinations weakened the Democrat Party’s vision and led confused American people to the traditional arms of the Republican Party. His vision of building ...

God's Callgirl

carysb
Advantages: Gripping, informative
Disadvantages: May be found quite hard going
Carla Van Raay's autobiography "Gods Callgirl" details the life of a naive, immature girl, then woman who is devoted to God but goes from obedient convent girl to sexual prostitute over the course of her life, but remains as naive as ever.
This life story is divided into three parts and develops the tale of this Dutch girl's life over the course of the book. Part one examines the life of a child abused by her father, yet finding she felt abandoned ... ...God from a very young age. As a school girl she idolising the convent and her sole ambition in life is to serve God as a nun in one of Australia's many convents.

Genius or crackpot?
Review of Made in Sheffield: Neil Warnock - My Story - Neil Warnock by
shanediablo
Advantages: Neil Warnock
Disadvantages: Neil Warnock
There are individuals in sports that only come around so often. People that get everyone talking whether it be how much they admire them or how much they dislike them; Neil Warnock fits this category perfectly. Controversy follows him everywhere, so it is fitting that he should produce an autobiography that i'm sure even those that hate him so much would be just a little intrigued to read.
This is the story of one of english domestic football's ... ...humble beginnings in Sheffield through an unglamorous but respectable playing career to a managerial career littered with controversy, success and disappointment.
The dream of the Sheffield born man and Blades fan was always to manage his beloved Sheffield United and this dream was realised. He was hated by sections of his own teams support often but his team battled adversity to reach the promised land of the premiership - only to be denied by ...

Good If Appreciated
Review of A Journal of the Plague Year - Daniel Defoe by
danwa9
Advantages: Expertly written
Disadvantages: No chapters/sections to 'break up' the reading
I'm a student and had to read this book for an exam. I read it in 2 days and felt quite tired by the end of it. The main reason being that there are no chapters or sections, so it is basically one long detailed insight into what life was like during the Plague. However, it is very well written and there are times where the reader's emotions are 'pulled at'. The detailed descriptions of both people and places allow the reader to feel part of the drama. ... ...would not recommend this book to anyone who does not appreciate good literature as you will get easily bored and find it difficult to continue reading. However, if you like pre-18th Century Literature and enjoy a good piece of writing, i would highly recommend this old yet insightful masterpiece. ...
