Daddy's Little Girl, Julia Latchem Smith
Review of Daddy's Little Girl - Julia Latchem-Smith by Annabel19

Advantages: A little shocking in parts, admirable for her bravery
Disadvantages: Dissapointing ending, not very well written.

I have always enjoyed memoirs, its a genre i continually revisit, and tales of hardship always compel me. I particularly enjoy drug/rehab memoirs, such as 'A million little pieces' by James Frey, and 'A piece of cake' by Cupcake Brown. I also love emotional rollercoasters, i love Jodi Picoult, and i've also read several similar stories of Child Abuse. I decided this book would be perfect. I bought the book in Woolworths in my lunch break, and was ...
...as i got home, but dispite being a page turner, it was dissapointing. The book was strangely compelling, i had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next, but it never excited me. The novel is written in a really matter-of-fact way. Despite the fact the acts were horrifying, i didn't feel the protagonist's pain, i couldn't relate to the character and i didn't connect emotionally. I found myself carrying on with it out of curiosity ... Read review

Obscene wealth
Review of Desert Royal - Jean Sasson by Wearsidelass

Advantages: Insight into a pampered life
Disadvantages: You could get sick of reading about the obscene wealth

...true life trilogy and buy Desert Royal by Jean Sasson. It can be quite confusing when purchasing this book because there is another title by Jean Sasson called Princess Sultana’s Circle which is, as I understand it, the American version of Desert Royal (or it could be vice versa!). So, Desert Royal continues the story of the life of Princess Sultana and her family – her husband Kareem and her two daughters Maha and Amani. As with the first two ...
...royal Saudis which is all due to the exploration of oil in Saudi Arabia. When I first read Princess I was genuinely sympathetic towards Sultana but, after reading the trilogy, I do believe that she is just another pampered princess looking for a good cause to fight, albeit hers is a somewhat silent fight. Sasson again writes in a style which helps the reader to visualise the pampered lifestyle of the princess and other Saudi royals. Let us not ... Read review

Princess
Review of Daughters of Arabia - Jean Sasson by Aspen

Advantages: Gripping and factual
Disadvantages: You're forced to think (that's an advantage, really)

Daughters of Arabia follows on from Jean Sasson’s previous book, “Princess”, which I would advise you to read first. Princess is a biography based on the life and hardships of an Arab woman growing up in and struggling with the oppressed role of Islamic women. Yet this is not some knee-jerk criticism of another culture; rather an objective study of the origins of and reasons for what the West sees as a subservient role. Saudi Arabia receives much ...
...what you are reading is factual. Daughters of Arabia is a sequel, following the lives of the Princess’s two daughters, who are born into what has become a wealthier society, but still filled with oppression and injustice. Both books are troubling, yet inspiring, and a highly recommended read. ... Read review

Duane - the bounty hunter and author
Review of You Can Run But You Can't Hide - Duane Dog Chapman by genius1988

Advantages: Fantastic insight into the life of the Dog
Disadvantages: None

...In this book, Dog takes you back to his roots and gives a unique insight into his life before bounty hunting - his mother and father, the biker gang he was a part of, the murder, and jail. He shows how all these factors added together have made him into the man he is today. After taking you through his childhood, and adolescence, and how he got his famous nickname, Dog writes about some of his most amazing captures, including the sensational six ...
...and read however much time you have. For anyone who has never heard of Dog the Bounty Hunter, this is a good place to start. A must read for anyone of any age. (Note: there is some use of bad language in the book, but this is a life story, with everything that happens in great detail, so this can only be expected) ... Read review

Great booky wook!
Review of My Booky Wook - Russell Brand by lelabella

Advantages: great insite into russels life
Disadvantages: explixit in some areas

Great book, gives a real insite to the rocky life of Russel Brand and also explains a lot about why he is like he is. I never liked Russel Brand until i read this book, i now understand his comedy as i now feel that i know more about him and understand the backround about his humour. In the book he explains about how he went through childhood dealing with his mothers illness and how he got into drugs and how he got to where he is now. We also see ...
...and he explains this in such a comical matter. there are some great pictures in this book of russel in his child hood and his family. Overall great book must read for anyone with a sense of humor or for someone who is just looking for a good read, i don't read much but i have read this many times over and still get the same enjoyment from it. ...
