truly heartfelt story
Review of A Child Called It - Dave Pelzer by jazz344

Advantages: feel waht the writer is feeling.
Disadvantages: some parts bring you close to crying/vomiting

a truly heartfelt story of a boy who is physically abused by his alcoholic mother. she treated him like a slave & made him know as 'it', he was no longer a child but a thing that she could control who was so naive & weak. many times managing to put him on the edge of death & injuring him to such an extent. you really feel dave pelzers misery & pain the way he describes the things he had to go through & how he found it so hard to stop hoping & loving ... Just another marilyn monroe book?
Review of The Assassination of Marilyn Monroe - Donald H. Wolfe by sarah24484

Advantages: The whole book, start to finish!
Disadvantages: There is none really unless you are a kennedy fan!!!

...understood who she was. From the first page of that book i was a hooked fan everything about her was so intriguing and the pictures in the book where truely amazing, at the age of 13 when maybe i should of wanted to be like the spice girls like most other girls my age i was classing marilyn monroe as a beautiful woman who after reading about her life i deeply admired. So 11 years on and i have to say iam still a great fan of the biggest sex symbol ...
...hers its her background and the on going struggle of her life and quest to find happiness that makes me a fan. After reading many books on her life and death and the mystery that surronds most of it i must admit i was getting a little bored of reading the same things over and over again most books on marilyn tend to tell you about her hard childhood and her mothers mental illness and the fact she was moved from foster home to childrens home untill ... David Pelzer - a truly interesting book
Review of Help Yourself - Dave Pelzer by vcarina88x

Advantages: (+) easy to follow format (+) language not too advanced (+) very reflective of life
Disadvantages: (-) may be a little lengthy for some people

As with the majority of my reviews, I will provide you with a brief background to the product in question and, in this case, the author David Pelzer. Who is David Pelzer? David Jame Pelzer is an American author however, he is involved in many other areas of work, including campaigning for children's rights. ..."It"" are probably his most famous and popular books. It is in these books that the reader finds out just how abusive his childhood was - Pelzer tells of his Mother starving and beating him and on many occasions making him drink dangerous fluids such as ammonia and bleach. Is this book the same as his previous work? Yes and no. Whilst "Help Yourself: Finding Hope, Courage, and Happiness" does note some of the events of Pelzer's life, it ... Read review

In Bed With Marilyn Monroe!
Review of An Evening with Marilyn - Douglas Kirkland by KarenUK

Advantages: Beautiful pictures, well presented, good price
Disadvantages: Could have done with more information

...years ago. I built up an impressive collection of books, postcards and other memorabilia, but in the 1990s, I had my children and Marilyn became less important in my life. I sold some of my collection, lost other pieces between house moves and until last year, I only had a few items left. Then last year, my interest in Marilyn was reignited. I joined some Marilyn yahoogroups and soon became as big a fan as I ever had been. I decided to start collecting ...
...bought his hardback book - An Evening With Marilyn - which was published in 2005. It cost £6.59 from Amazon and arrived quickly. It is a lovely looking book. Hot pink with a gorgeous Marilyn photo on the cover, it is a smallish hardback, around 8" x 7" in size. There are 126 pages, which include text but mainly photos in both colour and black and white. The book is very stylish. Often a page only contains a few sentences or a quote, using a bigger ... Read review
