Review of His Way: The Unauthorized Biography of Frank Sinatra - Kitty Kelley by Salgirl

Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion

...for presuming to write without his authorisation. He claimed that he and he alone, or someone he anointed, could write his life story, but no one else was allowed to do so." Having pursued the matter through the courts for over a year, his allegations of misrepresentations and misconstructions were proved groundless and eventually the case was dropped in late 1984. Her book followed two years later. Again this is a study where few stones, if any, ...
...the Mafia figured largely throughout his career. This made his connections with the Presidential Kennedy family all the more interesting gossip-wise. His involvement with women is explained in great detail throughout. First, his poor long suffering wife Nancy, quickly followed by all the famous and beautiful women that took his fancy. Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow are some of his well known romantic conquests, but what about Nancy Reagan or Lauren ... Read review

A Whole new book about her love for Peter
Review of Jordan: A Whole New World - Katie Price by sewbizzie

Advantages: She talks indepth more about Harvey's medical conditions
Disadvantages: Way Too muich about her and Peter in bed and how much she loves him

A Whole New World is another instalment in the life of Katie Price or Jordan. I read one of her previous books and was very surprised at how down to Earth and how hard she worked to achieve what she had. I was expecting the same greatness from this book. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The book has a picture of Katie on the cover and the title in small letters at the bottom. Down the side of the cover is the name Jordan, this has been put there ...
...entirely by Katie and not by her working status as Jordan. The back of the book has another picture of Katie lying on a pink background with some quotes by magazines saying what a good book this is. THE BOOK AND MY OPINION There are 9 chapter in the book. The first chapter is solely about her time coming out of the jungle and how hard she tried to get into contact with Peter Andre so she could tell him just how she felt about him. She talks about ... Pour Me Another
Review of Smashed: Growing up a Drunk Girl - Koren Zailckas by Soho_Black

Advantages: Very well written
Disadvantages: May not reach the audience that needs it most

The "true confessions" style of writing seems to have made the move from women's magazines to books in recent years. But in an effort to make a decent book out of these things, it's never the simple "I fell in love with my brother" type story you get, but a far more wide reaching tales. There have been many about being abused as a child, either sexually or emotionally. There have been people talking about their sex lives, whether they accepted money ...
...to more or less any substance going. It is this last category that Koren Zailckas' "Smashed: Growing up a Drunk Girl" falls into. She marks her history with alcohol, from her first drink aged just fourteen, to her last roughly ten years later. She uses alcohol throughout her growing up years, as a way to feel good and to help her with her social skills, eventually getting to a point where she can rarely relate to others, particularly members of ... We Can't Start Fighting - Kate hasn't arrived!
Review of The Kindness of Strangers - Kate Adie by bonsi6337

Advantages: It is quite interesting to read about the places she has been to
Disadvantages: Can be a bit long winded in places, and is just about her career

...Kate Adie is one of the world's more well known female reporters for the BBC and has been in some of the most dangerous places. She has reported from Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Northern Ireland and China, just to name a few. My title was inspired by a cartoon featured in the book, of two soldiers waiting to go into battle in Iraq, with one saying "We can't start yet ... Kate Adie isn't here..." To me this is quite poignant, as being married to a soldier, ...
...give her kudos for having the determination to go there. I certainly wouldn't be off to Iraq or Afghanistan to report the news! My husband actually told me a story about when he was in Kosovo at the height of the troubles there, and one officer told him it wasn't that bad because Kate Adie hadn't arrived there yet - when she arrived, then you knew that the poop had hit the fan! The book itself is really the story of how she came to be a reporter ... Read review
