I love Love Life
Review of Love Life - Ray Kluun by
hollywoodmum
Advantages: Heart warming, funny, heartbreaking, real
Disadvantages: May need tissues
...real funny moments and I love the way Ray kluun has included quotations from films and songs.
The chapters are really short and I didn't really understand why at first but it later becomes apparent that you nay need to put it down quite often to wipe away the tears.
Tha characters are fantastically written Carman is amazing, Dan is a lovable rougue and Dan's friends and colleagues are all different but likable at the same time. The relationships ... ...has wriiten this novel as fiction (so don't know why it's listed in non fiction) but we know that it is based on his experience of when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, although I wouldn't like to gues how much is fact and how much is fiction.
Everbody should read this. it's an absolute gem. Will warm your heart then break it at the same time. ...

A Double Fantasy of a biography!
Review of Lennon: The definitive Biography - Ray Coleman by
DoubleFantasy11
Advantages: Excellent, partly written from personal experience, covers pretty much everything
Disadvantages: Could've chosen a better cover photo, I want more!
The main advantage of this biography is that Coleman actually knew Lennon. He is honest (sometimes painfully so), but not interested in digging up dirt. He doesn't set out to be controversial, nor does he glorify Lennon and his life: it's all there; the drugs, the affairs, everything.
The layout is very comprehensive: it starts with an overview, goes on to a full, detailed and almost-linear account of Lennon's childhood, through the Beatles years, ... ...I found it very easy to read and it was detailed without over-analysing. I literally could not put it down - to the point where I spilt an orange alcopop over it because I was trying to pour while reading, there is now an attractive orange stain over some of the pages! Coleman has done his research and peppers it with little nuggets of information from his personal experience. He obviously liked Lennon very much (and is apparently one of the few ...

Last Man Down. - Richard Picciotto
Review of Last Man Down. The Fireman's Story - Richard Picciotto by
cassysdaddy
Advantages: Did not need pictures to visualize the catastrophic event
Disadvantages: Not long enough
KarenUk obviously has no idea what it feels like to have 100+ stories of a building fall on top of her and survive. It's ok though, you watched it from TV. I simply do not understand how someone can criticize an author for writing about an event they lived through with styles and techniques that only experienced writers over years of practice may be lucky to obtain. He tells it like it is and that's why I loved this book. He is a firefighter, NOT ... ..."said" and thought instead of sugar coating it. It truly gave a sense of realism. In addition, I loved how "Pitch" listed all the Firefighters who sadly perished. It really touched home. I also had the pleasure of meeting this man and hearing the full story from him. It was the saddest and quickest hour or so of my life. I am truly proud to have shaken the hand of this man and raised a drink in honor to him and will forever remember him as well as ...

Coleen McLoughlin: Welcome to my world
Review of Welcome to My World - Coleen McLoughlin by
louiseyd
Advantages: Cheap, fun and easy to read
Disadvantages: I want her life
I bought this book on a spur of the moment shopping trip, basically because I was interested to see how Coleen went from being a schoolgirl to a WAG in such a short space of time. I was amazed to read her story and see how down to earth she really was, even after being catapulted at amazing speed into the limelight.
She was even thoughtful enough to come back to her book and update it with her wedding plans for the release of the paperback edition. ... ...quick life update, within which she includes girly pages with tips on make-up, fashion, nights out and quizzes, making it so much more like a diary. It is really easy to read and highly enjoyable to learn how down to earth she is and how she enjoys nothing more than snuggling on her sofa watching the soaps just like the rest of us. ...
