FROM WEAKEST LINK TO COMEBACK KID
Review of Memoirs of an Unfit Mother - Anne Robinson by
badgirl99
Advantages: Honest, heartfelt, self-lacerating, courageous
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit drawn out at times
...pretty funny sometimes. Memoirs of an unfit mother is probably not the most thrilling autobiography you'll ever read but it's certainly worth the read. It's a really touching story and if there's one thing that remains unchanged throughout Anne Robinson's life, it's the love she has for her daughter. The fact that her daughter didn't live with her for the vast majority of her childhood is something that can never be changed and something that I'm ... ...story and personally, I was left thinking I'd read a fairytale where thankfully it all came together in the end and finally Ms Robinson has everything she wants and is happy. Wouldn't it be nice if all stories ended like that! The retail price of this book is £6.99 but that's hardly worth mentioning seeing as though you can get it for ridiculous prices on amazon (I just saw a copy for 29p!)
Definitely worth a read for anyone who has the slightest ...

Sequel as good as the first book
Review of My Friend Leonard - James Frey by
Krislynn
Advantages: Covers a range of emotions
Disadvantages: Style can be difficult to follow
Very similar in style to A Million Little Pieces, Frey walks us through his life post-rehab and jail. He continues to write in his choppy repetitive style. I think he is trying to give a glimpse into the altered brain of a recovering addict with his style of writing. His love for Lilly still strong, ends in a devastating way. He maintains his freindship with Leonard, who although treats him like his son, is engaged in illegal activities. Leonard ... ...(met James in rehab), he does not drink alcohol or do drugs anymore. He eats healthy and exercises and appears to enjoy life. But along with his sidekick Snapper, you know they are often up to no good. But you will end up lovign Leonard because he does take care of James. You get a glimpse of his past as he visits with friends from high school and college who are spread out all over the country. He goes out with them and he always says " i had a ...

Mad, bad and definitely dangerous to know
Review of Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know - Sir Ranulph Fiennes by
Theworker
Advantages: Awe Inspiring
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted.
Some people may show a slight frown on a Christmas morning when they open an envelope containing a £20 Waterstones gift voucher, sat there amongst a sea of discarded wrapping paper wondering how it came to this.
Not me sir. A useful gift, that will be put to good use on broadening my mind as opposed to polluting it with cheap ale. Waited for the sales I did, and got my merry behind down to the famous bookshop, with youthful excitement, and an eagerness ... ...Ranulph Fiennes; adventurer, explorer, military man and athlete. Keen to learn of his exploits and daring quests to be the first, I knew I would not be disappointed. Fiennes is a man's man. Calling a spade a spade, combining his daring pursuits with a natural charm and dose of humbling memoirs makes this exceptional reading. I defy anyone who reads this and then is not inspired to get down to the tent shop, pack a bag and walk to Antarctica.
Away ...

A great family read
Review of Marley and Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog - John Grogan by
ScottishWestie
Advantages: Humour, great story
Disadvantages: Sad ending
...The dogs name is Marley & the book takes the reader through the strains of teaching the new puppy all the important things a 'grown up' dog needs to know in life. The problem is Marley like most dogs prefers to think he is above all that & that humans need to be trained to suit his way of life, but they get there in the end despite his stubbornness.
The book is American & although American humour doesn't always translate too well by the time it ... ...You soon get to know Marley pretty well, his love of life & all his idiosyncrasies; you also get to know the Grogan family who give an insight into their daily life too as Marley is growing up. It's full of ups & downs, including an unexpected miscarriage, this stupid dog as Marley is referred to, becomes a loyal companion when Jenny Grogan is recuperating.
Later in life the family even have Marley acting for a local film crew, they always say never ...

From Knightrider to Baywatch
Review of Making Waves: The Autobiography - David Hasselhoff by
charlesnewton
Advantages: A detailed account of his life to date
Disadvantages: None really
This is an autobiography, about David's life to date.
He talks about his childhood and upbringing and how he got into acting. He also talks about his acting career, including his world famous roles as Michael Knight in Knightrider and his role in Baywatch, which he also co-produced, and his brief to date pop singing career and how he made it big as a pop singer in Germany. He also talks about his previous marriages and how he has tried to overcome ... ...Sarah Fergusson, Dutchess of York, and his appearance at the tribute concert in memory of the first aniversary of Princess Diana at Althrop.
The book is easy to read and difficult to put down once you start reading it. There are plenty of photographs of him at various stages in his life.
If you liked either Knightrider or Baywatch I would recommend this as an excellent read. ...
