Incredible book
Review of The Railway Man - Eric Lomax by jonbag

Advantages: Remarkable, thought provoking
Disadvantages: None

...must read mainly due to the fact that nothing can be as bad in life as the experiences Eric Lomax actually went thorugh. I was intrigued by this and just had to find the book to read it, I quickly found out that i was not going to be disappointed by this story of unimaginable pain and suffering endured during the second world war in the prison camps of Asia. The author goes into great detail about the torture he has suffered, sometimes not through ... Read review

the sound of zzzzz zzzzz zzzzz
Review of The Sound of Laughter - Peter Kay by chappo75

Advantages: erm........ ill get back to you on that
Disadvantages: thats three hours of my life ill never get back

The sound of boredom Peter Kay was one of the funniest comedians of the 00's. I say was because unfortunately he seems to have faded away and after this book I'm sorry to say I'm not surprised. I saw this book on a charity stall for £1. I am not much of a reader but liked Peter Kay and thought it would be interesting to read about where he came from and what made him who he was. So I bought the book (a bargain at £1) and prepared to laugh out loud. ...
...be disappointed. The first chapter starts by telling you its 1900 and Peter is waiting for his for his driving instructor to pick him up for driving lessons. We are introduced to the members of his family mum, dad, and sister. Next were told about Peter various jobs working as a paper boy, a garage assistant, stadium assistant etc. this is a lad who could not hold down a job, probably because he had a big mouth, he answered back and was cheeky, ... The Little Prisoner - A Must Read
Review of The Little Prisoner - Jane Elliot by kat_e_b

Advantages: A graphic tale of child abuse, which is a must read for anyone with a heart
Disadvantages: The emotion evoked is overwhelming

...is upsetting and graphic from the onset. Anyone who has lead a "normal" life will find it hard to grasp how someone can be subject to this type of abuse for such a long period of time. As is mentioned in the book, this was written after Jane Elliott, the author read a Child Called It by Dave Peltzer. Whilst A Child Called It was a horrendous account of child abuse, The Little Prisoner exceeded this a hundred times over. Elliott tells the story ...
...on life. The book is extremely well written and despite the author explaining the reasons it is not in a chronological order, the book flows in lucid detail, leaving the reader in no doubt as to the horrors Jane faced. The graphic explanations are very "matter of fact" and it clearly shows the torture Jane had to endure throughout the years. Not for the fainthearted, this book is a tearjerker and anyone with a heart can see that no child should be ... Read review

Review of The I. A. of a London Call Girl
Review of The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl - Belle de Jour by Xx1Zoe8xX

Advantages: Well written, Interesting, Couldn't put it down
Disadvantages: None.

I never watched the series of this starring Billie Piper but I bought the book not too long ago and couldn't put it down! It is absolutely fascinating. One minute you are reading about Belle's most recent explicit encounter with a client and the next you are reading her most personal thoughts about her current relationship. It gives people an insight into the mind of a call girl in London and shows the glamorous side (lots of money and shoes) and ...
...prostitute. I love her wicked sense of humour and the tone in which she describes the oddest, and sometimes disturbing, of situations with clients, as if it is an everyday occurance. Whether the author is infact who she says she is or not, this book is certainly worth the read! ... Read review

Tigers Child
Review of The Tiger's Child - Torey Hayden by gailzlegz

Advantages: Excellent to see how shelia is getting along in life
Disadvantages: Can be a bit repetative.

'Tigers Child' written by the great Torey Hayden. Torey is a special needs teacher and psychologist, her stories are true and based on troubled children she comes into contact with via the classroom. 'Tigers Child' is the follow on to 'One Child' which I have written a brief review on. My husband bought this book for me so I'm not sure how much it cost and where he got it from(probably WHSmiths),but the rrp is £5.99. It's quite tricky written ...
...remember Shelia's and Toreys background. The story is set seven years later when Shelia comes back into Toreys life and is needing her help and guidance again. Shelia is now a teenage with masses of orange hair, but no longer troubled like she had been in 'One Child' although she is still searching for some answers.Torey has her work cut out to help Shelia, but this time it is to help her with her teenage years and make her way through to womanhood. ...
