Ruby- what a gem!
Review of How Do You Want Me? - Ruby Wax by ginger59

Advantages: if you like Ruby, this explains a lot. Entertaining-a really good read
Disadvantages: if you don't like Ruby, this explains a lot! I did not like the font used.

...beating and i don't know how she put up with it. I certainly couldn't have done it. It has given me an insight into her and a wish to say "Good on you Ruby" that I had not got before. I really had a chuckle at her "fame" chapter -which opens with a simple test on how much envy we carry around. Her questions " Are you happy for those smiling celebrities , living in perfect homes with perfect partners? Or do you somewhere, secretly in you bowels, wish ...
...they are...after everyone tells you how wonderful and beautiful it all is, she says "do not listen to these people - it is f****ing hell. " Her final words which tell of her tears when her father told her he loved her moved me a lot- given that he had been a tyrant all of her life. However now he is old, his mind has gone and she feels freer than she did. He is not capable of insulting her any longer. The book contains some really good photos -and ... Read review

A Few Lines From Danniella...
Review of The Other Side Of Nowhere - Danniella Westbrook by KarenUK

Advantages: Interesting read, great anti-drugs message, informative.
Disadvantages: Needs to be proof-read better, could do with more details on her life in general.

...So I checked round for the best prices and found it available on Ebay, brand new for only £5. I started reading it the day it arrived and had finished it all in two days, but could easily have read it all straight off, if I'd had the time and no distractions. I love reading autobiographies, but The Other Side Of Nowhere isn't exactly an autobiography. Danniella was interviewed on This Morning last week and explained that it wasn't a kiss-and-tell ...
...Danniella's book isn't only about the topic covered. We do get to find out quite a lot about her childhood, her upbringing and family and her career. She describes her comfortable middle class background, her time at the famous Sylvia Young school and her break as she joined EastEnders as Sam Mitchell in her teens. There was a lot I didn't know in this part and it was the most interesting section of the book for me, especially as my eldest daughter ... Read review

The story of my brutal childhood by Kim woodburn
Review of Unbeaten: The Story of My Brutal Childhood - Kim Woodburn by Rachael-X

Advantages: Interesting
Disadvantages: nothing

Kim Woodburn is best known for the being the bossy person on "How clean is your house? As you can guess by the title of the book it is about her Brutal childhood. Kim was bought up by her violent mother as her father was often away as he was in the Royal Marines. Kim was the second child, another daughter. Her parents made her feel that she had disappointed them from the start as she was not a boy (obviously they must have wanted a son). Her mother ...
...friend, they ended up having seven children together. Kim left home at the age of sixteen and went to live with her father, their relationship as father and daughter was not very good. By 1966 she was living in the house of a lady whose daughter was at drama school (this daughter played the role of Suzie Birchall in coronation street in the 70's and later went on to play Suzie Birchall in Coronation Street in the 1970. Later Kim had been encouraged ... Read review

Drawing the Colour Line
Review of Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson - Geoffrey C. Ward by Squinkle

Advantages: an interesting and in depth read
Disadvantages: can sometimes be overwhelmed by the information

Jackk Johnson was the first black heavyweight champion in history, at a time when ‘drawing the colour line’ (the refusal of white heavyweights to fight black contenders) he took the title, amongst fear and hatred from both black and white communities alike. Fear and hatred from the white communities as they felt that they were the master race, and that a black man shouldn’t be able to beat someone who was white. Hatred from the black community as ...
...man should, as was blamed for years after for holding back the progression of black men in boxing. Jack Johnson was a one off. A man a head of his time, he was not into boxing just for the money as other heavyweights champions would claim, but for the fame and adulation as well. At a time when black men were hung for being suspected of having just having an ‘interest’ in a white woman, Jack Johnson married three, causing a huge furore over the first ... Read review
