The reality of Michael Jackson's life
Advantages: Very comprehensive and informing. Disadvantages: over 700 pages!!!
...through decades of thinking that Michael led an awe inspiring and wonderful life.
Personally after reading his life story I wouldn't have wanted one day of his life, not as a child or an adult, and he must have been so lonely.
His life as a Jehovah's Witness must have been so difficult to be involved in a normal way with people of the same beliefs....his total lack of sexual desire was rated as almost abnormal or perhaps as homosexuality, but even ... ...are amazing. Its like being a camera in every aspect of his life on an ongoing basis. well well worth reading, and learning more about.
Michael may have died, but he knows he will be back, and his life will be so different next time round. Brilliant book. ...

My Story - Dave Pelzer : A true must read
Advantages: Opens you up to a new and harshly reaslistic reality. A book i will gladly get back! Disadvantages: At times has a surreal air around it. Very effective torture scenes.
...a trained writer, which, in my opinion, at times shows in the way he plotted his autobiography, he has, very successfully, managed to reach his audience in a very graphical way when descibing his, so called, mother's "sick games".
For the more sensitive readers:
Be warned of the very realistic approach taken to the book. It might be very hard to read at times, this coming from a fellow sensitive reader, since as I have already mentioned before, ...

Mein Kampf - My Struggle, Evil in Paper
Advantages: In English, Very Interesting Disadvantages: A lot of hard work to read!
Mein Kampf - My Struggle, written by Adolf Hitler.
I am lucky enough to own a first edition (in German obviously) and the english translation version by Jaico Publishing.
Mein Kampf was first published in two volumes in 1925-1926 and sold between 8 and 9 million copies during Hitlers lifetime, as well as being widely translated.
The contents are most evil, and being quite a chunky read, it takes some time to work through it, least of all because ... ...In Mein Kampf, Hitler uses the main thesis of "The Jewish peril", which speaks of an alleged Jewish conspiracy to gain world leadership. The narrative describes the process by which he became increasingly anti-Semitic and militaristic, especially during his years in Vienna, Austria. Yet the deeper origins of his anti-semitism remain a mystery. He speaks of not having met a Jew until he arrived in Vienna, and that at first his attitude was liberal ...

John Peel - a radio legend
Advantages: Great story, lots of humour Disadvantages: Sad ending
He was one of our most legendary disc jockeys, not one of those DJ's that rabbled on insistently about things that are absolutely no interest to the listener, but a disc jockey that put the music first.
John Peel was if anything quite a reserved character, down to earth & very endearing. I loved his dry wit & although some of the music he played on his late night radio shows left a lot to be desired, he won the hearts & minds of so many listeners ... ...that would never have made it in the music world if it hadn't been for John Peel, and that includes some household names. He was the latter day 'X' factor all in one, send it your tape recordings & if he thought it had potential it was played on his late night show. From there, who knows? Some were lucky, but many got there one & only chance & it never went any further.
It was a sad day in the music world when he died whilst on holiday in Peru a ...

moab is my washpot
Advantages: hilarious, informative, witty Disadvantages: none
This autobiography is an immensely enjoyable read. Stephen's early life was certainly troubled, but makes for fascinating and hilarious reading- he writes about his first twenty years with a complete lack of whining or self-pity, and is unafraid to show the reader his own very grave failings. Fry's wit and candour make this book very difficult to put down - and is the best book i have read in a long while. His use of the english language is spellbinding, ...
