A great read for any aspiring sailor
Review of Taking on the world - Ellen MacArthur by CHAOS1979

Advantages: Technicalities are explained in a language you can understand
Disadvantages: Not much personal info about ellen

It takes a very special type of person to sail round the world, it taken serious guts, belief in yourself and a whole lot of trust in you support team, cos your stuck out there in an ocean where if it all goes wrong theres no paramedic for 2000 miles and you are the only one who can help yourself out. I love what ellen has done and this book gives you an insight, though maybe a slighly retrained one into the adventure she took on, and how she and ...
...and their families. Its well written with a good selection of pictures and humor to offer some insight into this amazing woman and her life competing in what is considered to be the worlds toughest yacht race. She is an inspiration and and this book will inspire all of those with an adventurous side to grab the next flight to africa to trapse through the jungle. Be nice to know a little more about her personal trials, but maybe this is best left ... Read review

Great on Radio...stop writing books
Review of The Gospel According to Chris Moyles: The Story of a Man and His Mouth - Chris Moyles by mum2boys82

Advantages: It tells you something about Moyles
Disadvantages: It jumps around, badly written, not much information

...listen to Chris Moyles in the morning before I had kids and gave up working, now I just sit and watch kids cartoons until it's time to get dressed (but that is a different story), and I used to really enjoy listening to him. I remember Chris talking about his book on air quite a bit, but then forgot about it until I read a review on another site, the review did say that the book wasn't really that good and to borrow it from a library rather than ...
...the library and return with the book. I was really interested to get started so I sat down to enjoy the book. It was so bad that I almost took the book back before finishing the first chapter. It is written in a really over familiar way, the way you might write a letter to a close friend, not in a typical bookish type of way. Some may find this appealing, but I didn't. Each of the chapters are actually quite long but they are usually split up into ... Read review

one if not the best book written on M.ALI
Review of The Tao of Muhammad Ali - Davis Miller by meeralex

Advantages: a true insight of the daily life of a hero
Disadvantages: it is not just about M.Ali but also about what the writer goes through

...Mohammad Ali because I find the character truly amazing : the first modern icon, the first brand, the most recognisable face on Earth, and one if not the best boxer ever (especially in his early days). I bought the book out of curiosity five years ago and from page one it grabbed me. I did read the book in one go. Davis Miller's style is crystal clear, to the point; it sounds as if he is writing a letter to you. His life is as boring as anybody ...
...makes this book work is the paralell between the life of a star and a life of a fan : they nearly have the same age but they couldn't be more world apart if it wasn't for the dedication in the training they both had. One day the aged fan meets his star and his life takes another spin : he has at last found his way, he will write about the only thing he knows that is Mohammad ALi. Mohammad Ali is miles apart from the bragging Cassius Clay he once ... Read review

An interesting read
Review of The Insider - Piers Morgan by ScottishWestie

Advantages: Scandals & gossip
Disadvantages: Too many political issues

...was he used to be the editor of the Daily Mirror & little else. This book, which is not written in a diary format, allows the reader to enter a world little of us have much contact with. You may read the end result every day, but Morgan's paints an interesting picture in the life of a newspaper editor. It starts off roughly around the time he was editor with the News of the World working with such people as Alistair Campbell & takes you through ...
...as Daily Mirror editor at the tender age of 28, which in its self is quite an achievement. The Mirror was (and still is) a mouth piece for the Labour Government so Morgan was always made privy to important information that people such as Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Alistair Campbell & the 'snake like' Peter Mandelson wanted the public to hear. His relationship with these people dominates the book, as does his strained relationship with Cherie Blair ... Read review
