Painfully frank
Review of Diamonds Behind My Eyes - Nicola Pagett, Graham Swannell by Suzan

Advantages: Honest,inspiring.
Disadvantages: Emotionally draining at points.

Nicola Pagett is a RADA-trained actress who has appeared in west End theatres and also on television. You may well remember her for her role in the TV drama ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’, where she played the part of Elizabeth Bellamy. Nicola has also suffered from manic depression, and ‘Diamonds Behind My Eyes’ is her searingly honest account of her fall into illness, her treatment and recovery. It is in turn moving, frank, distressing, ...
...I had a crack-up, breakdown, burn-out. what you will. Where did I go? I went where the air was too thin. I went up too high, for too long. I went where you don’t go…” Manic Depression…. Is a severe mental illness which has two quite dramatic and opposing sides. In the manic phase, the brain races out of control; the mind becomes unbalanced and thoughts and ideas come racing through thick and fast, many of them irrational ... Read review

A Rarity of Nature and Nurture
Review of Lord Minimus - Nick Page by Discerna

Advantages: Unusual biographical portrait, offers fascinating insights into seventeenth century life, references to sources used
Disadvantages: Factual detail may not be appreciated by all

If Jeffrey Hudson had been born in the current age, his condition would have been diagnosed within the first year of his life. He would have received treatment, perhaps in the form of injections of growth hormones, and in all probability grown up to be a “normal” healthy boy. Whether his character would have been such that he would still have been earmarked for distinction can only be a subject of speculation. As it was, however, Jeffrey was born ...
...a “Rarity of Nature”, little understood but guaranteed to attract attention wherever he went, would prove to be his passport to an extraordinary life. At seven years of age his height was just eighteen inches, and he remained under two foot tall well into adulthood. In “Lord Minimus”, Nick Page has carefully pieced together his life story from the evidence that survives, providing a highly readable narrative with ample references to source materials ... russell Brand- My Booky Wook
Review of My Booky Wook - Russell Brand by Xx-kitti-xX

Advantages: easy read, funny and catching
Disadvantages: Offence language and topics

I enjoyed reading this very much, however i did find it a little hard to get into it at the begining but once it picked up i couldn't put it down! It's a very funny read telling you many of Russell Brand's incidents, once that to be honest wouldn't happen to many of us! I liked how easy the book was to read but i found that it goes into much detail and uses a lot of bad languages and talks a lot about alcohol, sex and drugs. I wouldn't advise reading ...
...these three topics and do not like to hear much detail about them. Over all i found that this book had me laughing all the way through. I have recommended it to many friends who have gone out and brought it and they also enjoyed reading it. hope this helps. ... Read review

A good old gossip
Review of Wicked Whispers - Jessica Callan by Alderson100

Advantages: Light hearted, no serious brain thinker
Disadvantages: Start to wonder about the morals of a gossip columnist

...did... in the shape of Wicked Whispers by Jessica Callan. I didn't know too much about the 3am girls and I hadn't heard of the author before but I thought i would be worth a try. This book is like sitting next to your mate and having a good old gossip. It's light-hearted and goes through the many nights Jessica spent at celebrity parties trying to get the latest gossip. You will be amazed when you find out which celebrity footballer asked her for ...
...took home but unfortunately made a run for freedom when he found out she was a journalist and astounded at the celebrity that took a pee in front of her and asked for help with her cat suit. You will find out who are the down to earth celebrities and who need to brought back down to earth. This book should not be taken too seriously and to enjoy it you need to cast aside your views of gossip columnists, at times I had to wonder whether it was fair ... Read review
