* Standing Up , Standing Out *

Advantages: Great For Katie Fans!
Disadvantages: Seen A Lot Of It Before!

...Believe it or not , Standing Out is the fourth non fictional book from Katie. This book was released in the United Kingdom on 22nd October 2009. This book is a kind of autobiography , yet it is mainly based on fashion and Katie's looks and beauty/fashion tips. This book contains two hundred and eight pages and is available to buy from Amazon for £10. If I'm honest , when I first heard about this book , I thought it was going to be exactly what Victoria ...
...Katie's version is a little bit different as the book is mainly based on her views on how her fashion has changed and so on. However , I wouldn't really call this a style guide because it isnt' all about style. In this book , Katie rambles on about her life as well as fashion. She has tried to 'hand out' some useful tips , but most of them I already knew beforehand , and others are just plain stupid and so I won't be taking what she has to say on ...

'Shame' - An Outstanding Story By A Brave Woman

Advantages: A Learning Curve
Disadvantages: The Topic Should Never Exist To Need Writing About

My Synopsis 'Shame' is an honest account of a woman who grew up in an Asian community ruled by the gossip of the Gurdwara in Derby. This book outlines the pressures and restrictions of being a girl brought up by strict Sikh values in a community where 'Shame' and 'Dishonour' is the ultimate betrayal and leads to being shunned and disowned by the entire family and local community. ************************************************************* *************** ...
...she refers to herself in the book) is the co-founder of Karma Nirvana, a community project that supports South Asian women. This project was set up to support those affected by domestic abuse and honour based crimes, the making of the project is detailed throughout the final 12 chapters of the book where Jasvinder explains how her return to education and own personal experiences inspired her to provide the services she desperately needed from the ...

The Life of Anthony Kiedis In the Greatest of Depth

Advantages: One will gain the most exciting, extensive information about an amazing rock band.
Disadvantages: Somewhat "stale" style and tear-dripper at some parts. Great nonetheless.

Anthony Kiedis, vocalist of the Grammy-winning rock/funk band "Red Hot Chili Peppers", has written a thrilling roller coaster of drug use, sex, rock, sadness, elation, friends, enemies, life, death, and everything in between. Red Hot Chili Peppers is currently my favorite band. The band gets much of their on and off-stage energy from Anthony Kiedis, who has incredible vocals and front-man capabilities. If you want to learn of everything that he has ...
...is an autobiography, meaning that the facts are totally, 100% straight, as said and done by the man himself. Once I had begun reading I would take out fifty pages or more in the blink of an eye, without taking notice as to how much time had passed. It was truly a thrill ride. Anthony Kiedis is an excellent author, although the style in which it is written might become stale to some, over time, which it did not to me because I was unable to lose notice ...

The original Slumdog

Advantages: Incredible fast moving and emotional book
Disadvantages: A long book - but worth it

SHANTARAM GREGORY DAVID ROBERTS This has to be one of my favourite books ever. When I first saw it - a huge monster of a book - I thought that it would be too big for me, but believe me the 936 pages just fly by, do NOT be put of by the scale of this book. Shantarm is a semi autobiographical novel from author Gregory David Roberts who escaped an Australian maximum-security jail and moved to Mumbai to spend almost ten years in the ...
...the next ten years. Shantaram is a fictional book but it is influenced by real events that Roberts experienced in India. In his time there Roberts led a varied life - he set up a free health clinic in the slums, acted in Bollywood movies, worked for the Bombay mafia as a forger, counterfeiter, and smuggler and even into Afghanistan as a gunrunner. THE BOOK What genre can I give this book - it is part thriller, part adventure, part love story, ...

Pour Me Another

Advantages: Very well written
Disadvantages: May not reach the audience that needs it most

The "true confessions" style of writing seems to have made the move from women's magazines to books in recent years. But in an effort to make a decent book out of these things, it's never the simple "I fell in love with my brother" type story you get, but a far more wide reaching tales. There have been many about being abused as a child, either sexually or emotionally. There have been people talking about their sex lives, whether they accepted money ...
...to more or less any substance going. It is this last category that Koren Zailckas' "Smashed: Growing up a Drunk Girl" falls into. She marks her history with alcohol, from her first drink aged just fourteen, to her last roughly ten years later. She uses alcohol throughout her growing up years, as a way to feel good and to help her with her social skills, eventually getting to a point where she can rarely relate to others, particularly members of ...
