Kylie - Story of a Survivor
Review of Kylie Story of a Survivor - Virginia Blackburn by
sewbizzie
Advantages: Good amount of Information
Disadvantages: Too many quotes
...colour with a picture of Kylie dressed as a showgirl on stage with the title in pink / purple lettering at the bottom. The back cover of the book has a picture of Kylie when she has her short hair after her battle with cancer.
THE BOOK
The book consists of 18 chapters starting at the beginning giving us some details about where she was born and her family.
It then moves on to tell about how she landed her role as Charlene in Neighbours and how ... ...a few new things about kylie which I did not know before reading.
I would have liked the book more if it had in fact been written by Kylie herself as the book is filled with quotes from family and friends which I did find a bit off putting and I am never too sure whether to fully believe what I am reading.
The book is very easy to follow starting at the beginning of her life and ending with her comeback after her fight with cancer. I did find that ...

Valentino Rossi - What if I had never tried?
Review of Valentino Rossi: What If I Had Never Tried It - Valentino Rossi by
coolerking918
Advantages: A must for all fans
Disadvantages: None
The now 7 times world motorcycle champion gives a frank and honest account of his time with Honda and his move to Yamaha. He also gives a fascinating insight into his childhood times in Italy and his introduction to motorcycle racing by his Father, himself a racer.
The first half of the book tends to deal with the unbelievable choice(at the time) to move from the all conquering Honda Racing to the struggling Yamaha. Tired of the assumption that ... ...Rossi decided to take the world on and prove them wrong(as we now know he has). His rivals at the time gloating at the fact may just be eating humble pie right now.
Some amazing accounts of how multi million pound deals were taking place in the dead of night, hidden away in race track medical centres !!!! Truly unbelievable, but as you get a feel for the real Rossi you soon see it as not so far fetched.
You really feel that you know the man behind ...

II: The Memories of an Adult Child
Review of Me: Moir: Volume One - Vic Reeves by
dragonhelmuk
Advantages: Humour and Anecdote, Memories of a Golden Era.
Disadvantages: Lack of Profundity and Decorum, Empty of Detail.
Told to write two types of document, emulating the style of two chosen authors, yet determined to write something that would interest me, I decided to find style models who showed unique style and outrageous flair! Did I find them? Did the actual content have high enough readability that I could subtly twist it without becoming bored? Stop reading and never find out!
Vic Reeves is a famous comedian and artist, but personally I had never heard anything ... ...his autobiography Me:Moir Volume 1 still managed to hold my interest with its' distinct style and strange quips. I have heard recently that his comedic air is crude at times and rather unsophisticated, but I can only say that in his writing he comes across more self deprecating and, perhaps somewhat crazed
Fans of Vic may yet be disappointed however. Although there is a general overview of his early life, from birth to beginnings of adulthood, few ...

Victoria gives us an insight to the years of being ... ...Victoria had the determination to make this successfull. She tells us how they could be in a few different countries in a day.
Victoria then goes into talking about her life with David Beckham, when and how they met and why they had to be secretive from the Manchester united boss, who David was playing for then and from the spice camp.

The Boy from County Hell
Review of A Drink with Shane MacGowan - Victoria Mary Clarke, Shane MacGowan by
steerpyke
Advantages: wonderfully frank interviews, witty and fresh.
Disadvantages: none
...probably have him pegged as a stereotypical drunken paddy, fronting The Pogues as a whirlwind of frenzied punk inspired folk music and alcohol try to beat him to the floor in a dishevelled and undignified manner. This is because at the time that the band had reached its highest commercial success, it had also become the thing that he had tried to avoid all along, a serious band with one eye on the cash till and the other on the front cover of NME. ... ...and delivering a tongue in cheek party style performance had long since gone out of the window and in an effort to get through the sad fact that his creation had been hijacked by less imaginative souls, he had taken to sabotaging the band with his drunken and unreliable antics. If that is how you perceive Shane MacGowan then you must read this book.
Even the attitude of the book is chaotically in keeping with this innovative and unpredictable character. ...
