mmm...blood and guts eh!
Review of Cambridge Advnaced Sciences: Biology 2 by yoharry

Advantages: Very detailed, many diagrams, good layout
Disadvantages: Only a few mistakes, otherwise, none!

So I study biology...woo! lol. Second year of the course with only a few months left, thank god! Biology really wasn't the subject for me, however, this book, has helped me along the second year when the teaching was pants! At college, our particular examination board is OCR, making this book ideal because it is endorsed by the same company. Therefore, this book runs directly alongside the examination board. The book is divided into six chapters, ...

Sarah's attempt at making biology sound fun
Review of Cambridge Advanced Sciences: Biology 1 by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Full colour photographs, diagrams and graphs, some questions have answers in the back
Disadvantages: Not all the summary notes are relevant, there aren't any questions specifically for the synoptic exam

This book is designed for A2 level Biology students studying with the OCR exam board. I’d imagine that the book would be suitable for all A2 level biology students though, irrespective of what exam board you are studying with. The A2 course is divided into two parts. If you’ve read my opinion about the AS book then you may recall that there were three modules in the AS level. Odd I know but I’ll explain in a minute. In the A2 ...
...be three units in the book then wouldn’t you? Well you’d be wrong! There is actually only one unit in this book. The unit goes under the name of ‘Central Concepts’. You may now be wondering where you learn about the other two units then. Well it turns out you have to buy yet another book. As part of the OCR Biology syllabus you are required to study an option unit. You (or rather your teacher) can choose from: Growth, development ... Read review

Ever wanted to see sour milk under a microscope
Review of Cambridge Advanced Sciences: Microbiology and Biotechnology by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Covers everything needed for this unit, pretty interesting, tells you how to do the practicals
Disadvantages: Not all questions have answers , this book isn't in colour

Yes, I’m reviewing yet another text book! This is the last one for this year though, honest! This book is designed for A2 level Biology students studying with the OCR exam board. You may remember from reading my other biology text book reviews that I said the A2 course was split up into two parts. The first part that you sit an exam on called ‘Central Concepts’ and then the second part which is an ‘option’ module. I ...
...a choice in the matter. Some of you may though, its just our teacher wanted to teach us this bit and we had no choice but to do this module! I can only review the book we’ve used so don’t forget that you may not study this module in your course. The book in question is, imaginatively, called ‘Microbiology and Biotechnology’. Other option books include: Growth, Development and Reproduction, Applications of Genetics, Environmental ... Read review

Another attempt at making biology sound fun...
Review of Cambridge Advnaced Sciences: Biology 2 by Sarah_Louise

Advantages: Full colour, some questions have answers, summary at end of each unit are handy
Disadvantages: Not all questions have answers

This book is the bible of AS Biology students. (Or at least that’s what its supposed to be!) This book is designed for AS level Biology students studying with the OCR exam board. As with most textbooks though, I’d have thought that this book would cover the main points required in any AS Biology course. Just to be sure though you should definitely buy the book your teacher recommends. After all, the should know! The AS course (and book) ...
...module, Biology Foundation, Transport and Human Health and Disease. The book is assuming you have a double-science GCSE background. So what’s in the books? I’ll cover what is the first two units of each module. I’d be here all week if I listed what is in each and every unit otherwise!
