Biomedics Toric Contact Lenses

...For years those of us with astigmatism were stigmatised (pardon the pun) and not able to wear contacts... then along came the toric lenses. These are monthly disposable lenses designed for people with astigmatism. I can honestly say that over the two years that I wore Focus torics I was extremely satisfied. I only stopped wearing them as my sight was borderline toric or not and as I work long hours I did not think it was worth the cost as I often opened a pack and was not able to use them more than about 7 days in 30 and have now switched to daily disposables which do not give me such clear vision but are cheaper. The torics I got were through the Dolland and Aitchison postal scheme and caost £25 a month. Advantages: Easy to use, chuck away at the end of the day
Disadvantages: more expensive than monthly lenses

...I had tried monthly lenses, but wasn't 100% satisfied..i found that towards the month the lens felt gritty, i also found it irritating to clean my lens before sleeping. However, I thought due to my astigmatism I wouldn't be able to wear daily lenses. I did a weeks trial of focus daily toric lenses, and absolutely loved them! They were easy to use, the blister packs were easy to open, they were very comfortable...even towards the end of a long day, and best of all I just have to throw them away at the end of the day! The lenses can only correct small to medium amounts of astigmatism (upto 1.50), at two different axis (90 and 180), luckily i fell between this range! They are more expensive than normal monthly lenses, however, especially if you don't want to wear them everyday...they work out quite reasonable...a months supply could... Read review

...I started of wearing gas permeable lenses when I was 19. However wanting to take up a contact sport a few years later, I got soft lenses and was advised to get monthly disposables as I had a different prescription for each eye. In my right eye I wear ActiFresh 400 and wear a toric in my left. ActiFresh 400 is a 14 hour lense which means you can wear the lense for up to 14 hours before you are suppose to take it out. This means the lense can easily rip, tear and get things stuck to it. I have noticed I am more likely to get things stuck to the lense towards the end of the month especially if I have been wearing my lenses for most days of that month. The good things about the lense include it being tinted blue which means it is easy to find if dropped and in my contact lense case especially if I am not sober. My toric lense is clear...
