I have recently spent months renovating and decorating my house. As a smoker the ceilings and walls suffer over the years and not wishing to repeat the redecorating process more than necessary I have invested in the Bionaire BAP1500 PERMAtech.
The unit is quite large at 27" high x 10"x 6" but it is suitable for areas up to 84m2.
It's quite stylishly finished in black with silver trim. The 'Permatech' model is so called because it has permanent filters which can be washed or vacuumed when the filter indicator light on the top of the unit comes on. It is a pain replacing bags and filters (if they are available at all) so I've decided to avoid anything that needs replacements if possible.

The unit looks well made and the 3 speeds operate quietly considering the volume of air they process. However, don't think it's silent - the lowest speed is just louder than a computer fan which I find acceptable in my living room. The medium and fastest speeds I use to give a boost - usually when I'm going out. The Air purifier is designed to run continuously and at only 50 Watts max this should be no problem.
There is also an oscillator function which is virtually silent.

When operated the independently controlled ioniser releases negative ions into the air. Apparently these negative ions attach themselves to small particles which in turn join with positively charged particles to form larger 'bits'. These can be more readily captured by the filter system. So there!

The controls on the top of the unit comprise the 3 speed, oscillator and ioniser buttons plus the on/off switch. There are power on, ioniser on and filter indicator lights.
The remote control buttons replicate those on the top of the unit which I thought was nice design.

I'm pleased with this purchase. It is totally undemanding - just switch on and clean when required. It looks fine, the noise level is acceptable at low speed and it cleans and freshens the air. What more could you want?
