As I said the batter is golden and crispy, the fish inside was white and had a texture similar to cod but with heaps more flavour (although I like cod the best of the wet fish, to me it has a ‘washed’ taste) and was moist, not dry like some I’ve tasted. Let me tell you the facts.

I see myself a s a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to fish. Most of the fish that I buy has to be fresh, I don’t like this stuff which is really off cuts, mixed with cereal, pressed together and dipped in batter or breadcrumbs and called fish portions or fish fingers. All that I have tried in the past have left me feeling rather sick. Imagine my horror then when I found myself stopping for dinner at a friend’s house and she informed me that we were having fish portions, some that she had picked up at Kwik Save and that they had been quite cheap. EEEUKK! Still, not having an emergency contingency plan to cover this problem and not wanting to appear rude, I swallowed hard and sat down to eat. My friend placed the plate in front of me and…well it looked very appealing, golden batter that was crispy when prodded with the fork, it smelled pretty good too so I gingerly took a piece and popped it in my mouth. The result? Mouth watering, absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t get it down my neck fast enough. For ‘ready made’ frozen fish, this was beautiful. What was this fish????
