Advantages Advantages One portion per (inner) pack ~ four nutritionally balanced portions ~ easy to microwave

Disadvantages Disadvantages Chunky carrots do not cook well from frozen; You don't get much for your money.

~ First: a disclaimer. I have never seen the variety pictured above, with asparagus, baby carrots and green beans. Nor have I seen the only other alternative vegetable variety version with chunky carrots, calliflower florets and green beans. I have only seen, and thus purchased, the variety I am discussing: SteamFresh® veg "Broccoli Florets, Chunky Carrots & Sweetcorn" (now with "New Chunkier Veg Pieces"). I bought some of these reduced for clearance in my "local" (ex-OneStop Shop) Tesco freezer cabinet for 77p. It seemed to be very lightweight, and not very cold when it came out of the ... more

Advantages Advantages mix of veg, healthy

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive, not full bag

After trying to get a bit more healthy, I decided to try some frozen veg. The vitamins etc are the same as fresh almost, and its quick and easy. These were on offer, so I got a pack. The offer price was 50p for a bag but these retail £1.48 for 480g, which is not a big bag at all when you can get 1kg of each veg separately for half the price. The mix of veg, although providing different nutrients etc, falls short in that you get more of the bigger pieces and less of the small, so in my bag I had too much broccoli, hardly any sweetcorn!!!!! You dont get equal amounts. Another thing was the bag ... more

Advantages Advantages Convenient, balanced, fresh tasting

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive

I always have these in my freezer and use them as an alternative when I run out of fresh veg, or when I am cooking for myself and want a variety of veg. I find these expensive but tend to buy them when there is an offer. I first bought them when there was an introductory offer, but you can sometimes find them on buy one get one free at Iceland. I love the texture and freshness of them and the convenience of having a measured portion for one. Being a single parent I find that not enough companies cater for portions of one, and that being on my own limits my choice as a lot of things are family ... more

Birds Eye Steamfresh Veg - Well what can I say? Since I have been on a diet (the past 3 months), they have been a godsend to me. I only do a main shop once a week so once all my fresh veg has run out, I usuall rely on frozen veg and these are ideal! Some days you really can't be bothered to stand over a hot stove for ages watching veg boil. So when you want a quick and healthy bite or accompaniment to your meal, 3 mins in the microwave and you have lovely fresh tasting veg! I must say, the best variety I have tried is the 'chunky' veg, containing carrots, broccoli and sweetcorn. You may need ... more
