...stuck to only using the Bissell fibre cleansing formula, they do say to only use this in their instructions, I have stuck by it purely because I like the lovely smell and the overall performance.
This can also be used to clean Linoleum, vinyl and tile floors, as I have none of these in my home, I cannot tell you how good it is for these, but the instructions do say do not us on hardwood floors.
Having children, I always try to buy children friendly furniture, wipe clean surfaces and removable covers on chairs, cushions. My latest three-piece suite however only had removable backs and cushions, despite my best efforts eventually the arms have started to look worse for wear. I have tried many different ways of cleaning them. All the foams and sprays I have tried have never really brought the arms as clean as I wished. I had thought about steam cleaners and had looked around to see what was on the market. When I saw this I started to take an interest, although not a steam cleaner it seemed to be very good. I liked the idea that it would clean and remove the dirt, not just move it.
After deciding that this really would be the answer, I bought one, what took me so long to decide was the cost and that it was only a cleaner and could not be used as a vacuum cleaner. The cost of replacing furniture or getting professionals in would work out costlier in the long run, so it eventually became an easy choice. I bought it from Comet and paid £197.95 although it came with a bottle of cleaning solution they call it fibre cleansing formula. I bought another bottle for £6.99. When I took it to the car, the first thing that struck me is the overall weight, it’s very heavy. I thought its this heavy and that is before it is full of water.
When I got it home, I unpacked the box I had in front of me a host of tools, a 950 ml bottle of fibre cleansing formula, the cleaner itself (in two separate parts), two screws, two nuts and bolts, a spare drive belt, a turbobrush instruction sheet, an optional low cost five year breakdown plan and the user guide.
After having a cuppa and a read of the user guide it was time to put the machine together, the instructions said I would need a Phillips head screwdriver, so armed with this I set about the task. IT actually took me about half an hour, not because the instructions were not clear or it was difficult. But simply because I took my time to make sure I got it right, briefly you attach the handle to the base, then the bit that holds the tools is attached and all you need is the two screws and two nuts and bolts.
Then it was the time to get the machine running and ready to use. There are two separate tanks, the first for the cleaning solution, they call this the smartmix bottle and the second which is two tanks in one for the water. The second tank is really two in one you put hand hot clean water in one part and the other part of the tank collects the dirty water and cleaning solution. They call it a tank in tank system. Anyway by following the instructions I found it easy to put what was meant to go where. Then it was switch on and wait for two minutes while the smarttemp warmed up the cleaning solution.
I decided that the first time I used it, would be more to not only get used to using it but to see how well it cleaned, I chose part of a carpet and one arm of my settee. It took me about ten minutes to clean them both, this gave me the chance to use both the upright part of the machine and the tools. When I emptied the machine I was amazed at how much dirt had been removed. I left the carpet and arm until the following morning. I was so pleased with the result, the carpet looked new, the pile looked so plush. The arm came as good, all the dirt had gone and it looked nearly new. I Felt so good I got the machine out, did the entire three-piece suite and all the carpet.
One very pleasant thing was the aroma, the cleaning solution left a really lovely smell, this was called Lemon and Grapefruit Fragrance. The combination sounded a bit strange but I can happily report that the combination worked.
Since then I have gone right round the house and everywhere has come up so well. I did find the stairs hard, and the overall weight of the machine does make moving it from room to room not the easiest thing to do. I have also stuck to only using the Bissell fibre cleansing formula, they do say to only use this in their instructions, I have stuck by it purely because I like the lovely smell and the overall performance.
This can also be used to clean Linoleum, vinyl and tile floors, as I have none of these in my home, I cannot tell you how good it is for these, but the instructions do say do not us on hardwood floors.
I am very happy with the performance of my Bissell PowerWash ProHeat and can thoroughly recommend this to other people wanting to clean up their carpets and fabric upholstery.
Advantages: Really deep cleans and deodorises carpet Disadvantages: Machine is heavy if you have to lift it
I have had my Bex Bissell carpet washer for six months and it is very difficult to describe how good it really is.
I have two big dogs ( dobermans), hence eight muddy feet, plus my husband ( I often think he must have eight muddy feet as well, the mess he makes and although I have stone floors in the utility areas to 'save' my carpets, they do get really soiled on occasion.
Hiring a carpet cleaner
I have done this several times and the machines ... ...thought this was brilliant).
Bissell suggest you use their shampoo, but I have used theirs, Vax, astonish and two other supermarket ones and they have all been good. It is very important to chack the consistency of the shampoo though - if it is too thick it will put pressure on the motor which pushes this through the system, and it will clog up.Add 50% hot water to this type of shampoo and you will get no problems.
A very important point - ALWAYS ...

Advantages: So Easy to use Disadvantages: You realise just how dirty your carpets were!
...invest in one of the Bissell machines instead and I am glad I did!
After reading the instructions which are clearly explained and I recommend everyone doing this first, I set out on my first project, the hall way or as the booklet calls them ‘high traffic areas’. I went over the area in stages, slowly forward and back with the lever on the handle pulled in to let out the shampoo and then forwards and back again, lever, released to suck up the water. ... ...you are living with each day until you try this machine. My next project is going to be the stairs and landing next weekend and I will do each room in turn from there on. It’s actually enjoyable and what cleaning job can you say that about, not any as far as know. I have even now insisted that my husband and daughter help out buy taking there shoes off straight away when they come from outside to help keep the carpet looking great again – nearly ...

Advantages: Cleans efficiently without the expensive of getting someone in to do it Disadvantages: Heavy especially if you need to get it up and down stairs
...book recommends you use the bissell brand cleaners, we have also used cleaners designed for other deepcleaning machines with no problems yet and we've had the machine 3 years. When we purchased this machine it seemed expensive (£230) but it has more than paid for itself with the amount of times that I use it. Especially if you consider how much it costs to bring in the professionals. ...
