I have quite a large area in our house which has laminate flooring and is very hard to maintain in a spotless condition. Before getting this done, I did not realise that laminate flooring was so difficult to keep clean. I thought it would be like ceramic tiles. Anyway, to cut the long story short, I was looking for a hard floor cleaner which would make my cleaning job easy for the laminate floors, may be spot clean carpets occasionally at the same time not break the bank!

Of all the products I looked at they were either hard floor cleaners or just carpet cleaners. This one fitted well in my requirements and I thought of getting one. I send an email to Bissell to ask if this would meet my requirements- and from the answer I received, it seemed like I found my perfect match!

I did some research on the company as well- Bissell is an American company and started business in 1876 - quite an innovator in floor- care business. Anna and Melville Bissell owned a crockery shop in Grand Rapids Michigan, USA (BISSELL HQ is still there).

Mechanically minded Melville created a carpet sweeper machine in response to Anna's frustrations of sweeping up stubborn sawdust particles used to pack china in the store. His ingenious design solved the problem. Soon everyone wanted the sweeper. The first BISSELL factory was built in 1883, in Grand Rapids.

On Melville's death, Anna Bissell took control of the expanding BISSELL business, becoming one of America's first female corporate CEOs. BISSELL became steadily more successful through its commitment to research, innovative product development.
In the UK, BISSELL's presence spans 112 years since the first London store. Queen Victoria insisted that her palaces be BISSELLED every day!

BISSELL's multi-purpose formula and shampooer brought another new dimension to household cleaning during the 1950s. This revolutionary appliance considerably reduced the time and drudgery associated with carpet cleaning. As living spaces have become ever smaller, BISSELL has introduced modern styled practical, lightweight cleaners with more advanced technology, improved performance and power, features, accessories.

Their Slogan - at BISSELL when we say clean...WE MEAN CLEAN! No I have not been paid by them to sound like an advert!

Well all of this was very impressive till now. Well assembly was not difficult- it did as it said-

Your QuickWash assembles quickly and easily. The only tool you will need to assemble your deep cleaner is a Phillips Head screwdriver. It had following pieces-
• Handle Assembly
• Upper Body
• Lower Body with Collection Tank
• Clean Water/Solution Tank
• 3 Screws

To assemble you have to Slide Upper Body into Lower Body. Secure with Screws.
Slide Strain Reliever Handle down into Upper Body until it will go no further. Then secure with Screw.
To start you have to place Clean Water/Solution Tank on back of unit. This clean Water/Solution Tank - holds approximately 2 Litres of hand hot tap water and cleaning solution. Collection Tank - holds approximately 2 Litres of dirty water.

Carpet cleaning-

Plan activities to give carpet time to dry. Remove easily moved furniture (chairs, lamps,
coffee/cocktail tables, etc.) from room if needed. Vacuum carpet thoroughly.
Decide where to begin - and end - your job. Clean in 3' X 4'sections, starting in areas farthest from exit. Plan to leave a path open to empty soiled water and refill cleaner.
Carpeting will dry in three to four hours, depending on carpet style and air circulation in room. A floor fan speeds drying. Replace furniture on damp carpeting by placing waxed
paper under legs until floor dries completely.

Remove the Clean Water/Solution Tank by lifting it straight up, then away from the Lower Body. Unscrew the black cap at the bottom of the Clean Water/Solution Tank.
Add one of the BISSELL Cleaning Formulas for Deep Cleaning Machines to the formula fill line on the Clean Water/Solution Tank. Fill the rest of the tank with hand hot
(not boiling) tap water to the water fill line. Replace and tighten the black cap.
Place Clean Water/Solution Tank on Lower Body. Rotate Quick Release Cord Wrap™ to release the Power Cord and plug into an outlet.

You have to always vacuum thoroughly before you deep clean. If possible, move
large furniture to an area you will not be cleaning.

Hard Floor:
Basic process is similar to above, have to use a 'squeeze', sort of attachment.

And WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, use only BISSELL Cleaning Formulas
for Deep Cleaning Machines. Use of cleaning formulas that contain lemon or pine
oil may damage this appliance and void warranty. Chemical spot cleaners or
solvent-based soil removers should not be used. These products may react with the plastic materials used in your QuickWash, causing cracking or pitting.

Basic operation: With your foot, you have to press the red Power Switch [located in foot of unit] ON. With your foot, press the Detent Lever on right side of Lower Body. Depress Spray Trigger to spray cleaning solution. Do not overwet. To suction up water, repeat motion over same area without depressing the Spray Trigger. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until no more dirt can be removed. Continue to clean entire carpet, working in 3' x 4' sections.
Empty the Collection Tank when dirty water reaches the full line, or when the Clean Water/Solution Tank is empty.

If Floor Nozzle stops spraying, turn Power Switch OFF and check water and cleaning solution levels. Refill if needed.

Well what it did to me- I took a long time to get it running, It was very noisy- I mean really loud! I ended up with lot of water on the hard floor, did not suck up well. Took ages to dry. Does not remove dirt- its not a vacuum, so you have to use the broom any way! Did not do what it seemed to be- not worth £80!
