The Bissell Lift Off is easy to use.Power switch & brush switch easily located at the base of the handle.The brush switch turns the rotating brush on/off.ON for normal carpet cleaning.OFF for bare floor cleaning or other delicate surfaces.There is also a power hight adjustment setting for bare floors,short & medium pile carpets & plush pile carpets.The adjustment knob is at the base of the cleaner.The tools are stored at the back of the cleaner (except for one attachment?).The tools can be used with the vacuum in the upright position or with the detachable cylinder. I find the Bissell Lift Off to be a great purchase.Glides over wooden floors & carpets with plenty of suction.If your like me with wooden floors & carpets it's just a flick of a switch as you go from room to room. Good length on cord.Easy to empty dirt container without the dust ending up on the floor you have just cleaned.The detachable cylinder is a great idea.Easy to clean the stairs with.It sits on the steps without falling over.The tools are OK but the telescoping extension wand (which is the one that does not store in back of vacuum) does not stay in the lock position,but is long enough to reach high.There are also tools for dusting furniture,blinds,books,lamp shades etc.Another tool for curtains,cushions & fabrics.Crevice tool for narrow spaces.

Good review. As far as the extension for the hose, it does have a place to attach to the back of the canister. The hose is supposed to go the left of where it looks like it should go and the extension part goes on the right. You can see the part that is used to stabilize the extender...near the bottom.
