No rough edges, not much flavour either
Review of John Smith's Extra Smooth Bitter by ndwoodruff

Advantages: An improvement on many other canned bitters
Disadvantages: Not much actual taste, draught version worse than most other bitters

John Smith's is a Yorkshire brand now available pretty much UK-wide, but particularly prevalent in its traditional North England heartlands. The introduction of the Extra Smooth Bitter has not, unfortunately, done much to improve on its range. The recent surge in smooth bitters has had an effect on the drinking landscape and it's now becoming rare to find a pub or bar that doesn't feature a smooth bitter of some kind. John Smith's Extra Smooth is ...
...than from a tap) but John Smith's Extra Smooth manages to break that rule. Trouble is, the draught version isn't that great to start with. Coming in at 4.0% ABV there are no rough edges (unsurprising, given the name) and you might be tempted to think it would be something of a session beer, but, after 2 or 3 a strange thing happens and it becomes a bit of a chore to drink. Hard to explain but you just end up yearning for something else. I went ... Read review

BBB vs the BBC
Review of Wells Banana Bread Beer by andystrong

Advantages: It Tastes Good
Disadvantages: It's Not The Cheapest Beer In The World

...know) is brewed by Charles Wells - an independent family brewery in Bedfordshire. The brewery is a well established creator of fine British ales and has won over 100 awards for its efforts since 1876. Being a big fan of Charles Wells’ best product – the gorgeously drinkable Bombardier - I decided to investigate Banana Bread beer some two years ago and was quite satisfied with the results. Presented in a satisfyingly imperial 1 Pint Bottle ...
...year round pint. The Wells brewery assures us on it’s labelling that it uses fair trade bananas for this product – so you can satisfy your conscience whilst supping on this pleasant ale. Retailing typically around the £1.65-£1.79 price of most specialist ales, it is a tad on the expensive side, although you can find it on offer sometimes in discerning supermarkets and off-licences. Even if it sets you back £1.79 you can still drink one a ... Read review

Strangeways There We Came
Review of Boddington's Draught Bitter by Champ666

Advantages: Was Once A Great Beer
Disadvantages: Wales Is Not Manchester

Boddingtons Bitter (once the cream of Manchester) comes in two varieties, the bland and insipid keg variety and the oh so wonderful Cask variety. For those of you who do not know the difference between the two the keg variety is a dead beer meaning that there is no live yeast in the product and all conditioning is done at the brewery. The Cask conditioned variety contains live yeast and variety is conditioned in the cellar by the publican, there ...
...the flavor. Ok to cask condition a beer takes a little but not much skill. You store the barrels in the upright position and about 2 to 3 days before it gets tapped (I will explain that later) you drop it onto its side and give at a good roll around the cellar. This shoogles up all the sediment and helps remind the yeast that it needs to do some work. This is called secondary fermentation. A couple of days later the barrels is tapped this consists ... THE MOST SUCCESSFUL DRINK.
Review of Guinness Bitter by apatra

Advantages: NICE TASTE, FOUND IN EVERY PART OF THE WORLD.
Disadvantages: TOO BITTER FOR A DRINK.

...all over the world. Author Guinness the founder of the drink had a 12 years difficulty when his Guinness brewery was trying to get its feet and no one even knew that author Guinness will even make it and that was when the king died. HISTORY. Lets take a look on the history of the drink. Author Guinness started his brewery in the year 1759 in Dublin Ireland and when he died his family upheld the business and up till to day no body could even get ...
...is quite amazing that author Guinness was able to make it after the death of the great king then. That's is amazing for a drink that started its brewery for over 200 years ago to hold the secret up till date and I think that it will continue to be like that. Actually I cant just tell between the Guinness and the coca cola the one that has a more popular and a projected name, which one? Well I can't tell because coca cola is meant mainly for kids ... Marston's Pedigree
Review of Marston's Pedigree Bitter by Martinscholes

Advantages: A great pint
Disadvantages: Not always available

...just drunk a bottle of Marston's Pedigree bitter. It was chilled in the fridge and tasted lovely. Now, before anyone tells me off for chilling real ale and claims that real ales should be served at room temperature, please let me disabuse you of this false notion. A good real ale, such as Marston's Pedigree, should not be served at room temperature. All real ales should be served at cellar temperature, which is, of course, always a good deal cooler ...
...But I digress. Back to Marston's Pedigree. Marston's Pedigree is a good, honest premium real ale. It is still brewed in Buton upon Trent and still brewed in Oak vats in order to keep the unique flavour. What is the unique flavour of Marston's Pedigree? This is a harder question to answer than you might think. You might as well ask: "What is the taste of water"? Pedigree has an abv of 4.5% so is a beer that needs to be treated with respect. As ...
