My name is Mariana, and I am a blackberry addict. Having put this out there, I feel I must explain myself. I have always been much of a phone enthusiast, but for high tech features and rather for their beauty. With the in mind, I have always fallen in love with the wrong types. I have written a short review on the not so delightful Prada LG model which was a beautiful headache. I have previously bought the likes of the Chocolate LG, the Razr, the V60i... and the list goes back to good old days when the Motorola Startek was a status symbol.
I know for a fact that I am not the only one out there that does not know every technical name for the features of a mobile phone, so I decided to write a more romantic review of a phone.
So to make this review more accurate and evaluate the Blackberry Curve I will pose one question : Why do people buy a Blackberry? Maybe it\'s business appeal as you can work from virtually anywhere on the planet. Or perhaps it makes you look more professional. Or even you might an uncontrallable fashion victom who \"needs it\". Based on my experience, I will evaluate how the Blackberry meets each individual necessity.
Consumer A: The Work-a-holic
The Blackberry Curve is an easy to work with phone. When you first switch it on, a tutorial will show up the screen and walk you through the process of linking your email from work to the mobile. This tutorial also assists you in joinning a business wireless network and ways to use the server in order to transfer files. The sync between your email and the mobile is excellent and extremely reliable. The keyboard is also easy to use in case of an emergency report that must be completed before reaching the nearest desktop. This blackberry comes with a QWERTY keyboard which is equivalent to the standard English version on desktops and laptops. Roller ball navigation provides easy access to applications (so much easier than touch screen!). Battery life is realiable as well and may go well beyond three days (obviously depending on usage). There are several network carriers that offer excellent offers for businesses, both small and large. Backing up files to a desktop is also easy and assisted by programs within the mobile.
Consumer Type B: The Fashionista
The Blackberry Curve is absolutely fabulous ! It is slim enough to fit into the smallest handbangs but capable enough to fit your glamorous photos and songs. The camera is 2MP, which is not as good as some Samsung models, but not totally useless either. Videos may be viewed on full screen and navigation to the music player is extremely easy. Applications for blackberry usage are available for purchase and for free on the web. One memorable one is the downloadable Facebook software which lets you check your facebook account without even openning up the browser. Any alerts received on the site appears simultaneously on the mobile. Other websites that also offer special software for your blackberry phone are : MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Aol Instant Messenger, Myspace, and others. There is also one feature which every fashionista craves: the BB messenger ! This feature is a messenger exclusive to Blackberry users which includes the delivery of messages to anyone in the world via Blackberry Pin. As referred to by several celebrities, the BB messenger is a must for any international jet setter !
Although many people have been critical towards the Blackberry Curve, I have no complaints of it. The light weight is a huge plus, especially for a phone that includes so much! I would strongly recommend it, and can reassure that several consumers are switching back from to the Blackberry with post-iPHONE trauma syndrome. Oh, and I mention how much I love my blackberry...
Advantages: BBM, Push e-mails, Beautiful interface, Easy customisation, Enhanced video media player, QWERTY keyboard Disadvantages: GPRS internet connection, as opposed to 3G or Wi-Fi
Not only is the Blackberry Curve 8300 smartphone from RIM both the smallest and lightest Blacberry smartphone, it is also one of the best designs RIM has produced.
Although the phone is only slightly smaller than earlier models, it is far more compact and supposedly 20% lighter, which really makes a difference either in your bag or pocket, enabling it easier to carry it around with you throughout the day. The colour display is truly impressive, ... ...E-mails you say? Yes, the Blackberry Curve still maintains one of the key features Blackberry users love: the access to push e-mails. As a new Blackberry user, I found this incredibly easy to figure out, and within minutes, had established my own e-mail address with Blackberry and was receiving e-mails efficiently. When you first set up your Curve, there is a 'Blackberry wizard' which sets up almost every aspect of your Curve to suit your needs, ...

Advantages: high quality calls,internet/email access, looks great, easy to use Disadvantages: expencive, but there are some remarkable deals out there
...its a piece of cake. Blackberry have a free 1 hour course online which quickly teaches you almost all the phones functions and is a must for new users.
Internet access comes from the blackberry server and is quick and clear, setting up a blackberry email address takes just a moment. The real bonus is being able to access and send from your old existing email accounts, I linked my AOL account to the phone in seconds and now recieve all my emails on ... ...just the phone or from both phone and mailbox which is very useful. Web pages are clear thanks to the large screen and come up surprisingly fast. Phone calls are definatly of a better quality than any phone ive ever had, this phone will work in places my old phone died in time and time again. The speaker phone is good and works quite well with the mp3 player although the quality is poor compared to the ear phones. Charging is via a standard usb port ...

...a nice, subtle backlight.
BlackBerry and email are synonymous and the Curve 8300 supports document attached emails which was a real boost when emailing as I often include attachments.
BlackBerry Maps is also supported and there is a document viewer so you can view all popular document files on the move. The Curve 8300 also features an HTML internet browser, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging & PC synchronisation, EDGE and GPRS.

Advantages: Slim design, good sound quality Disadvantages: Hands free kit not the best
This is the second Blackberry device I own, and compared to the previous one it is more reliable and has some extra features such as Maps, a Camera, and a middle tracker rather than the side scroller.
I compared this to the Pearl, and the QWERTY keyboard was much easier to use, and are not too sensitive. Also, there is now a new key which allows you to write in capital letters.
The screen is very clear and detailed, and the sound quality, even ... ...bit more work, but overall, the phone is better than its predecessors.
My old blackberry had a tendency of crashing every now and again, but I have not had the same problem with this one.
Much easier to use than the Pearl, which I did try to use! ...

...any of its predecessors, the Blackberry curve 8300 is not just aimed at the business market. With more multimedia aspects such as a 2megapixel camera, media player and games it is a fantastic all rounder. All aspects of this phone have been dramtically improved. Advantages: Easy to use, lots of features, quick internet browsing on the go, Disadvantages: battery life isn't that long
I have recently got the Blackberry Curve 8900 and I love it. It's the best phone I've ever had. I have it on a contract with Orange and it costs me £35 per month for 600 minutes and unlimited texts (which is good as I'm a constant texter!) - I also opted to pay an extra £5 a month for internet access on my phone, which is a must-have with a blackberry to really use all it's features. I love the full QUERTY keypad, it makes texting so quick and easy, it even has a spell check for my texts and they appear more like emails, so there is no need anymore for "text language"!
The menu's are really easy to use, and you scroll around the different options using a central rollerball, which acts like a little mouse.
It also has a 3.2 megapixel camera, which takes good pictures with a flash, an MP3 player and a handful of classic games ...
Advantages: lightweight, customisable, multiple applications, camera, many more. Disadvantages: confusing and complicated at first
The blackberry curve is a sleek and lightweight business device. The large screen, simple menu and qwerty keyboard make using the curve a delight. At first the curve takes a bit of time and patience to get used to, but after a few days you will be fully complacent with its workings. The curve is an excellent device which can be customised to the users needs. The curve comes packed with useful applications and even one very addictive game. The camera is of great quality and good for every day use. Hundreds of applications can be downloaded to the device, via the Internet, including games, word processors and instant messengers making the experience even more personal. The sensitivity of the trackball is easily altered to give you the best feel for your needs. All in all the curve is a very useful device, great for both personal ...
